Investigation into the impact of training on elementary teachers? ability to use them

This study presents the findings from a controlled trial of the new Teacher Guides for English as a subject (n=293) that form part of the new elementary English Standards-Based Curriculum in Papua New Guinea. The aim was to investigate whether training on the Teacher Guides had an impact on teachers’ ability to use and deliver the scripted lessons they contain. The trial was conducted in two provinces. Assessment was by pre- and post-trial questionnaires, reflective journals and focus groups. Teaching historical thinking in practice : a study of US history teachers’ views on using primary sources in AP and IB history lessons

Analysis of primary sources has been recognised to have a significant impact on the development of students’ historical thinking. This study explored US history teachers’ attitudes and practices to using primary sources by interviewing six history teachers and observing 29 history lessons between August and November 2016 in Indiana and California. The main focus of the study was on the views of International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and Advancement Placement (AP) history teachers. Diplomdarba mērķis ir pārbaudīt kinestētiskās iesildīšanās uzdevumus vārdu krājuma apguvei angļu valodas stundās 5.klasē. Šāda diplomdarba tēma bija izvēlēta, jo autore uzskata, ka mācot 10-11 gadus vecus skolēnus, iesildīšanās uzdevumus jāizmanto vairāk, jo tie rada pozitīvu un draudzīgu atmosfēru klasē. Previous studies have reported difficulties in analysing students’ argumentation. Especially the warrant, which connects data with claims, is found to be problematic to recognise. Weexamine how specific criteria for different forms of reasoning could decrease this difficulty.
