Work Schedules and Work–Family Conflict Among Dual Earners in Finland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom

Many European families are affected by the 24/7 economy, but relatively little is known about how working parents experience nonstandard hours. The aim of this study was to analyze the possible associations of dual earners’ work schedules and other work-related factors with their experience of time- and strain-based work–family conflict. These phenomena were examined among dual earners living in Finland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, countries that differ in working time practices and policies. When newcomers enter a workplace, the focus is usually only on orientation and onboarding tactics, which aim to socialize newcomers into the workplace. However, it is through workplace relationships that newcomers make sense of their work tasks and create an understanding of “our workplace.” This chapter describes the processes of interpersonal communication in the workplace during a newcomer’s entry phase. Celem artykułu jest wskazanie roli relacji międzyorganizacyjnych w zarządzaniu łańcuchem dostaw w sektorze publicznym. Został on zrealizowany podstawie analiz o charakterze teoretycznym, w oparciu o założenia marketingu relacji, Nowego Zarządzania Publicznego oraz Public Governance. Analizie poddano typy relacji, elementy i etapy współpracy, a także alternatywy strategiczne partnerstwa. Analiza zależności między ogniwami łańcucha stanowiła podstawę identyfikacji możliwości kryjących się w potencjale relacji partnerskich. The complexity of current disasters creates a challenge for crisis communication. This paper aims at identifying gaps in communication in disaster management experienced in practice in order to facilitate learning from those situations. Quality Indicators for Crisis Communication to Support Emergency Management by Public Authorities

The purpose of this paper is to develop a framework for performance indicators to measure and improve crisis communication preparedness of public authorities. Such an instrument supporting organizational learning has not yet been developed for crisis communication. In this paper it is argued, that nowadays synergy as a quality dimension for communication management needs to be balanced with social orientation. The inner-directedness needed for synergy should not lead to a rigid control.
