Unconventional Aeronautical Investigatory Methods: The Case of Alitalia Flight AZ 112

Viene svelato scientificamente la causa del disastro aereo di Montagna Longa del 5 maggio 1972 Based on unconventional air investigation techniques, this book highlights the mysterious crash of Alitalia flight AZ 112 on 5 May 1972, which killed 115 people, and was blamed solely on pilot negligence. Its findings show the cause of the disaster was not actually related to any pilot negligence, but, rather, it was the result of a criminal act. It argues that this attack was a symptom of the geopolitical tensions in Italy and Europe in that decade. Bifurcations of Links of Periodic Orbits in Non-Singular Systems with Two Rotational Symmetries on S3

A topological characterization of all possible links composed of the periodic orbits of a Non Singular Morse-Smale flow on S3 has been made by M. Wada. The presence of symmetry forces the appearance of given types of links. In this paper we introduce a geometrical tool to represent these type of links when a symmetry around two axes is considered on NMS systems: mosaics. On the other hand, we use mosaics to study what kind of bifurcation can occur in this type of system maintaining the symmetry.
A rigidity theorem for Lagrangian deformations

We consider deformations of singular Lagrangian varieties in symplectic manifolds. We prove that a Lagrangian deformation of a Lagrangian complete intersection is analytically rigid provided that this is the case infinitesimally. This result is given as a consequence of the coherence of the direct image sheaves of relative infinitesimal Lagrangian deformations.
Automatic calculation of massive two-loop self-energies with XLOOPS

Abstract Within the program package XLOOPS it is possible to calculate self-energies up to the two-loop level for arbitrary massive particles. The program package — written in MAPLE (Char et al., Maple V Language Reference Manual (Springer, 1991); Char et al., Maple V Library Reference Manual (Springer, 1991)) — is designed to deal with the full tensor structure of the occurring integrals. This means that applications are not restricted to those cases where the reduction to scalars via equivalence theorem is allowed. After a compact overview of the standard mathematical presentations of the formalism of quantum mechanics using the language of C*- algebras and/or the language of Hilbert spaces we turn attention to the possible use of the language of Krein spaces.I n the context of the so-called three-Hilbert-space scenario involving the so-called PT-symmetric or quasi- Hermitian quantum models a few recent results are reviewed from this point of view, with particular focus on the quantum dynamics in the Schrodinger and Heisenberg representations.
Analytic vectors, anomalies and star representations

It is hinted that anomalies are not really anomalous since (at least in characteristic examples) they can be related to a lack of common analytic vectors for the Hamiltonian and the observables. We reanalyze the notions of analytic vectors and of local representations of Lie algebras in this light, and show how the notion of preferred observables introduced in the deformation (star product) approach to quantization may help give an anomaly-free formulation to physical problems. Finally, some remarks are made concerning the applicability of these considerations to field theory, especially in two dimensions.
A damping preconditioner for time-harmonic wave equations in fluid and elastic material

A physical damping is considered as a preconditioning technique for acoustic and elastic wave scattering. The earlier preconditioners for the Helmholtz equation are generalized for elastic materials and three-dimensional domains. An algebraic multigrid method is used in approximating the inverse of damped operators. Several numerical experiments demonstrate the behavior of the method in complicated two-dimensional and three-dimensional domains. peerReviewed
Adopting magnetocaloric heat pumping and refrigeration for electrical vehicle

International audience; Refrigeration process is based on conventional gas compression and expansion techniques. However, this technique has numerous disadvantages since it generates greenhouse gas and is partly responsible for global warming. This paper exposes analternative method: magnetocaloric refrigeration that presents the advantage to combine high-energy efficiency and respect of theenvironment. Magnetic heat pumping and cooling is compared to conventional method applied on vehicle air conditioning system.Simulation results are used to demonstrate the approach.
Cu–Cu interactions in the transparent p-type conductors: CuAlO2 and SrCu2O2

Abstract Electronic structures of the p-type Transparent Conducting Oxides (TCO): CuAlO2 and SrCu2O2 are calculated using the Tight Binding Linearized Muffin Tin Orbital within the Atomic Sphere Approximation method (TB-LMTO-ASA). The band structures indicate two gaps for CuAlO2 (an indirect one with ΔE≈0.45 eV and a direct one with ΔE≈1.25 eV) and one direct gap for SrCu2O2 (with ΔE≈2 eV). In both oxides the Cu states are dominant at the top of the valence band, close to the Fermi level and the existence of weak Cu–Cu bonding interactions is revealed through the Integrated Crystal Orbital Hamiltonian Population (ICOHP).
