Pedestrian Tracking in 360 Video by Virtual PTZ Cameras

Since the data acquired by a PTZ camera change while adjusting the pan, tilt and zoom parameters, the results of tracking algorithms are difficult to reproduce; such diffi- culty limits the development and the comparison of tracking algorithms with PTZ cameras. The recently introduced 360- degree cameras acquire spherical views of the environment, generally stored as equirectangular images. Each pixel of an equirectangular image corresponds to a point on the spherical surface. A gnomonic projection can be used to project the points on the spherical surface onto a plane tangent to the sphere. La storia della Sicilia greca è scandita, nei suoi momenti chiave, dalla persistente presenza dell’immagine del Dinomenide Gelone. Questo lavoro analizza le valenze paradigmatiche assunte dalla sua figura nella memoria civica siracusana e nella produzione storiografica; inoltre ricostruisce le dinamiche politiche che hanno spinto i principali tiranni siracusani (da Dionisio I a Ierone II) a stabilire un confronto con Gelone. Tra mare e sale vi è un legame metonimico profondo nella Grecia antica. Questa costante presenza fa sì che da elemento comune della dieta quotidiana, il sale divenga segno che alimenta la memoria della giustizia:il sale diviene perciò riferimento di un modello di vita fondato su relazioni armoniche, mentre la sua assenza conduce alla selvatichezza. Sotto questo aspetto il sale (marino) concorre alla soluzione delle aporie tra il politico e il domestico, tra la comunità e gli individui.Perciò il sale è un operatore simbolico di straordinaria efficacia.

The concepts of memory and experience have stimulated interest in a wide range of recent cultural studies. In the history of scholarship on religion in Mediterranean antiquity, scholars have focused on the emotional dimension of both terms by employing the concepts of ‚Christianity‘ and its derivative, ‚oriental religion‘. Only recently analyses in this field started focusing on interaction and individual experience. La cantina Rocca di Frassinello, progettata da Renzo Piano nel cuore della Maremma Toscana, costituisce uno dei massimi esempi di come la contemporaneità, nelle sue forme più essenziali, possa fondersi perfettamente con il paesaggio naturale circostante senza alterarne gli equilibri e la storia ma anzi valorizzandolo in maniera magistrale. Il centro pulsante della cantina è la grande barricaia ipogea nella quale riposano fino a 2.500 barriques di rovere francese disposte su gradinate digradanti. La particolare configurazione a gradoni della barricaia sembra richiamare l'impianto planimetrico di una forma architettonica legata all'antica Grecia, il bouleuterion. Un'iscrizione da Teos attesta…

In this intervention the reading of the "praefatio" at the «Ystoriola Langobardorum Beneventum degentium» by Erchempert, a Lombard historian of the IXth century, is conducted. The examination allows us to observe, as a preliminary, a historian of the High Middle Ages at his “work table”, in the reference to the sources and models and, at the same time, in the clear awareness of the innovative elements that he proposes to highlight through the story of the tragic and fatal decline of the Lombard people of southern Italy. This contribution presents data and experiences acquired within the frame of the “Inclusion Project Linguistic School of Italian Language for Foreigners” of the University of Palermo. The program, created five years ago, has designed and managed educational courses for adults and unaccompanied minors (msna) of low and very low schooling level, most of them between 16 and 18 years old, and developed a series of social initiatives related to the insertion of these minors in Sicilian Society. These youths are part of a large number of unaccompanied adolescents who, in recent years, have come ashore to the port of Palermo along with thousands of refugees and asylum seekers. The Holocaust literature transforms many narrative categories in an attempt to find forms capable of conveying the historical experience of extermination. As an alternative to the impossible mimetic reproduction of reality, many authors resort to the imaginary and its rhetorical and narrative devices to reconstruct the concentrationary experience. The essay aims to trace the forms and functions of phantasmagoria in some texts by Charlotte Delbo where the transfiguration of reality makes the process of remembrance possible and, at the same time, the recomposition of the subject.
