Robustness of radiation beam profile measurements

In this master’s thesis, profile measurements of PTW Semiflex 3D and PTW Semiflex ionisation chambers in addition to IBA MatriXX matrix detector were compared to each other using different measurement set-ups. The ionisation chamber measure- ments were done in a water phantom in horizontal and vertical orientations. Using two different set-ups in the horizontal orientation. This study considers developing numerical solution techniques for the computer simulations of time-harmonic fluid-structure interaction between acoustic and elastic waves. The focus is on the efficiency of an iterative solution method based on a controllability approach and spectral elements. Characterizing Cavities in Model Inclusion Fullerenes: A Comparative Study

Abstract: The fullerene-82 cavity is selected as a model system in order to test several methods for characterizing inclusion molecules. The methods are based on different technical foundations such as a square and triangular tessellation of the molecular surface, spherical tessellation of the molecular surface, numerical integration of the atomic volumes and surfaces, triangular tessellation of the molecular surface, and cubic lattice approach to the molecular volume. On the discreet spectrum of fractional quantum hydrogen atom in two dimensions

We consider a fractional generalization of two-dimensional (2D) quantum-mechanical Kepler problem corresponding to 2D hydrogen atom. Our main finding is that the solution for discreet spectrum exists only for $\mu>1$ (more specifically $1 < \mu \leq 2$, where $\mu=2$ corresponds to "ordinary" 2D hydrogenic problem), where $\mu$ is the L\'evy index. We show also that in fractional 2D hydrogen atom, the orbital momentum degeneracy is lifted so that its energy starts to depend not only on principal quantum number $n$ but also on orbital $m$. Fabrication of a Silicide Thermoelectric Module Employing Fractional Factorial Design Principles

AbstractThermoelectric modules can be used in waste heat harvesting, sensing, and cooling applications. Here, we report on the fabrication and performance of a four-leg module based on abundant silicide materials. While previously optimized Mg2Si0.3Sn0.675Bi0.025 is used as the n-type leg, we employ a fractional factorial design based on the Taguchi methods mapping out a four-dimensional parameter space among Mnx-εMoεSi1.75−δGeδ higher manganese silicide compositions for the p-type material. Ursula Hicks and Vera Lutz’s Contributions to Development Finance

International audience; This paper analyses the different approaches of two pioneering economists in the field of development finance, Ursula Kathleen Hicks (1896-1985) and Vera Constance Lutz (1912-1976). While research in economics in the 1950s focuses predominantly on finance in already developed countries (Goldsmith, 1969 and Gurley and Shaw, 1955), Hicks and Lutz extended the analysis to developing countries and/or regions – an original initiative for this period of time. Interested in the study of money and banking, Hicks and Lutz nevertheless had different beliefs on the way to promote economic development. This difference of thought comes from differing philosophical backgrounds.

We have established the importance of proper vine pruning techniques depending on individual grape variety characteristics and its influence on crop formation and quality of the grapes. The technique of studying the influence of the length of the vine pruning on the qualitative indices of the fruit of the grapes has been proposed. Field research was carried out in 2014-2016.
