The article takes a diachronic look at feminatives in the Polish language from the sixteenth century to the present day. The authors recall the history of female forms in the language. Referring to pre-war journalism, discussions in the journal Poradnik Językowy [The Linguistic Guide] and the propaganda lexis of communist Poland, they prove that female forms are not foreign to the Polish language. They create a comprehensive list of reasons why feminatives have disappeared from Polish, taking account of both intra-linguistic and extra-linguistic factors. The subject of the paper is Silesian geographical names motivated by colour terms. The analysis comprised Polish and German appellative-derived names of inhabited and uninhabited buildings as well as oronyms and hydronyms. The term colour appearing in the title is broadly understood as every element naming a colour, deriving from a colour term or evoking associations with a colour term. The analytical part contains a description of particular colour terms constituting the basis for proper names, with their meanings, connotations and prototypes. Le trincee drenanti profonde rappresentano uno dei metodi più efficaci per la mitigazione del rischio da frana, in pendii con falda idrica. Esse sono realizzate mediante pannelli o pali secanti. Il riempimento è costituito di calcestruzzo poroso o materiale granulare. Se le trincee sono adeguatamente “innestate” nel terreno stabile e il materiale di riempimento ha sufficiente resistenza e rigidezza come il calcestruzzo poroso, si ha ulteriore in-cremento di resistenza a taglio per effetto shear keys, oltre a quello derivante dalla riduzione delle pressioni in-terstiziali. On flora semantics in house names found in Vidzeme: materials contained in the 1826 counting of souls in Vidzeme province The information of the counting of souls containing both house names and names of individuals is an essential aspect of historical onomastics. The first counting of souls in Vidzeme took place in 1782 and coincided with the 4 th analogous census of the provinces of Russia. Subsequently these took place at irregular intervals, the 5 th in 1795, the 6 th in 1811, the 7 th in 1816, the 8 th in 1834, the 9 th in 1850, and the final, 10 th in 1858.
