A computational method to optimal control of a wind turbine system using wavelets

2011

Author's version of a chapter in the book: Proceedings of the IEEE International Syposium on Computer-Aided Control System Design (2011). Also avaliable from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/CACSD.2011.6044551 This paper deals with a computational optimization approach to the problem of state-feedback control design for a wind turbine system. The first step of the study is to develop a reduced order model for the system by considering the most important physical phenomena of aerodynamics and structural dynamics. Moreover, the behavior of the system can be influenced by the coupled dynamics between the tower motions and the blade pitch and turbine speed which can cause instabiliti…

Simulation of a UAV ground control station

2012

International audience; In this article we present the development of a UAV ground control station simulator. We propose a module based description of the architecture of this simulator. We recall the nonlinear model of a fixed-wing aircraft. Finally, we outline ideas for improved path planning tasks. The approach is made clearthrough several diagrams, figures of the resulting station are displayed.

Méthodes géometriques en mécanique spatiale et aspects numériques

2005

We present in this thesis two research projectson the optimal control of the space vehicles. In the first, we have dealt with the orbit transferproblem. We study the minimum time control of a satellite that we want to reach a geostationary orbit. Our contribution is of two kinds. Geometric, first, since we study the controllability of the system together with the geometry of the transfer (structure of the command) by means of geometric control without state constraint tools (minimum principle). Then we present shootingalgorithm and homotopy method. These approaches allow the numerical resolution of problems with strong or low thrust satellites. The second project concerns to the calculation o…

A combination of algebraic, geometric and numerical methods in the contrast problem by saturation in magnetic resonance imaging

2014

In this article, the contrast imaging problem by saturation in nuclear magnetic resonance is modeled as a Mayer problem in optimal control. The optimal solution can be found as an extremal solution of the Maximum Principle and analyzed with the recent advanced techniques of geometric optimal control. This leads to a numerical investigation based on shooting and continuation methods implemented in the HamPath software. The results are compared with a direct approach to the optimization problem and implemented within the Bocop toolbox. In complement lmi techniques are used to estimate a global optimum. It is completed with the analysis of the saturation problem of an ensemble of spin particle…

The Influence of the feedback control of the hexapod platform of the SAAM dynamic driving simulator on neuromuscular dynamics of the drivers

2012

Multi sensorial cues (visual, auditory, haptic, inertial, vestibular, neuromuscular) [Ang2] play important roles to represent a proper sensation (objectively) and so a perception (subjectively as cognition) in driving simulators. Driving simulator aims at giving the sensation of driving as in a real case. For a similar situation, the driver has to react in the same way as in reality in terms of ‘self motion’. To enable this behavior, the driving simulator must enhance the virtual immersion of the subject in the driving situation. The subject has to perceive the motion of his own body in the virtual scene of the virtual car as he will have in a real car. For that reason, restituting the iner…

Sur le rôle des singularités hamiltoniennes dans les systèmes contrôlés : applications en mécanique quantique et en optique non-linéaire.

2012

This thesis has two goals: the first one is to improve the control techniques in quantum mechanics, and more specifically in NMR, by using the tools of geometric optimal control. The second one is the study of the influence of Hamiltonian singularities in controlled systems. The chapter about optimal control study three classical problems of NMR : the inversion problem, the influence of the radiation damping term, and the steady state technique. Then, we apply the geometric optimal control to the problem of the population transfert in a three levels quantum system to recover the STIRAP scheme. The two next chapters study Hamiltonian singularities. We show that they allow to control the polar…

Geometric optimal control : homotopic methods and applications

2012

This work is about geometric optimal control applied to celestial and quantum mechanics. We first dealt with the minimum fuel consumption problem of transfering a satellite around the Earth. This brought to the creation of the code HamPath which permits first of all to solve optimal control problem for which the command law is smooth. It is based on the Pontryagin Maximum Principle (PMP) and on the notion of conjugate point. This program combines shooting method, differential homotopic methods and tools to compute second order optimality conditions. Then we are interested in quantum control. We study first a system which consists in two different particles of spin 1/2 having two different r…

Second order optimality conditions with applications

2007

International audience; The aim of this article is to present the algorithm to compute the first conjugate point along a smooth extremal curve. Under generic assump- tions, the tra jectory ceases to be optimal at such a point. An implementation of this algorithm, called cotcot, is available online and based on recent devel- opments in geometric optimal control. It is applied to analyze the averaged optimal transfer of a satellite between elliptic orbits.

LPV model identification for gain scheduling control: An application to rotating stall and surge control problem

2006

Abstract We approach the problem of identifying a nonlinear plant by parameterizing its dynamics as a linear parameter varying (LPV) model. The system under consideration is the Moore–Greitzer model which captures surge and stall phenomena in compressors. The control task is formulated as a problem of output regulation at various set points (stable and unstable) of the system under inputs and states constraints. We assume that inputs, outputs and scheduling parameters are measurable. It is worth pointing out that the adopted technique allows for identification of an LPV model's coefficients without the requirements of slow variations amongst set points. An example of combined identification…
