In a dehydroamino acid with a C=C bond between the α- and β-C atoms, the amino acid residues are linked trans to each other and there are no strong intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The torsion angles indicate a non-helical conformation of the molecule.

Mobility, wages and gender across Europe
2012
In this paper, the socioeconomic and individual characteristics that favor mobility are analyzed. The stochastic frontier technique is used as an instrument of analysis to measure the differences that arise between the potential wage and the one that should be obtained for an individual with particular socioeconomic characteristics given his/her investment in human capital. A data panel of young workers who have been working at least for seven consecutive years is used for this analysis. The data set comes from the European Community Household Panel for the period 1995-2001. The results show that Spanish and Italian women have the higher changing probability; this high probability has a neg…

In this paper we hypothesize that voluntary nonprofits' provision is a collective choice. We present a model in which the members of a community, both those who fund the nonprofits and those who do not (free riders) vote, so choosing between a political program of governmental supply and a political program of non governmental supply. Afterward, they must also …

Empowering New Agents of Civil Society or Fostering Good Citizens? Framing Youth Participation in Finnish Youth Organizations
2018
ABSTRACTThis article investigates how nationwide Finnish youth civil society organizations frame their approaches to youth participation. By analyzing data from interviews, websites, and annual reports, five frames are identified. The frames differ in how they define the purpose of participation, whom they see as the main actors, and what kind of member, volunteer, or other participant roles they provide to young people. Three frames are used as master frames that see young people as agents, learners, or targets of support; two subordinate frames expand the scopes of the organizations.
