Papilla and pontic area regeneration in patient with gingival smile: A clinical case

2018

Purpose Connective tissue grafts are widely documented as a predictable technique for treating Miller Class I and II recessions, as well as procedures in which soft tissue augmentation is required for aesthetic reasons. This article aims to explore the resolution of a clinical case with this type of problema. Clinical case This case describes a technique for reconstructing a pontic area and adjacent papilla by means of two consecutive connective tissue grafts. The first graft served to increase the amount of tissue in the horizontal direction, and the second promoted vertical reconstruction of the defect. Results and conclusion In cases with aesthetic requirements, restorative intervention …

The Antiviral Properties of Cyclosporine. Focus on Coronavirus, Hepatitis C Virus, Influenza Virus, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infections

2020

This review updates current knowledge regarding the risk of viral infections, including COVID-19, in patients treated with cyclosporine. We also shortly refer to bacterial infections and parasitic infestations in patients treated with cyclosporin. Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressive drug, which is widely used in medicine, including in the treatment of autoimmune skin diseases in dermatology, rheumatology, ophthalmology and nephrology, and in organ transplantation. A usual concern associated with immunosuppressive treatment is the potential risk of infections. Interestingly, several data indicate a relatively low risk of infections, especially viral infections, in patients receiving cyclosp…

Vārdu krājuma paplašināšana 3-4 gadus veciem bērniem ar valodas attīstības aizturi

2018

Maģistra darba nosaukums: „Vārdu krājuma paplašināšana 3-4 gadus veciem bērniem ar valodas attīstības aizturi”. Darba autore: Ilze Strode. Darba zinātniskā vadītāja: Dr. paed. docente Ilze Šūmane. Darba saturs: 91 lappuses, 8 attēlus, 12 tabulas, 12 pielikumus. Pētījuma mērķis: teorētiski izpētīt un praktiski pārbaudīt dažādas vārdu krājuma paplašināšanas metodes 3– 4 gadīgiem bērniem, lai mazinātu valodas attīstības aizturi. Pētījuma hipotēze: vārdu krājuma paplašināšana 3 – 4 gadīgiem bērniem ar valodas attīstības aizturi norit veiksmīgi, ja: 1.tiek ņemtas vērā bērna attīstības īpašības; 2.tiek izmantotas atbilstošas koriģējoši attīstošās metodes. Pētījuma teorētiskajā daļā, analizējot zi…

AMPULLECTOMIA E CARCINOMA GIGANTE DELLA PAPILLA DI VATER

2007

The case of a giant carcinoma of Vater's papilla is reported. The clinical/diagnostic paths and therapeutic indications for ampullectomy are analysed on the basis of the good survival rate observed more than five years after transduodenal excision and in the light of the most recent literature. The authors believe that accurate, early diagnosis and histological typing is fundamental for an appropriate selection of patients when complex surgical decisions have to be taken. They consider ampullectomy to be a valid therapeutic option, certainly in the case of benign neoplasias, and duodenocephalopancreasectomy (DCP) to be the operation of choice for the treatment of ampullar and periampullar m…

Thyroid neoplasms: surgical and cyto-histopathological connections on a six year cases study

2018

This study aims to evaluate the percentage of cyto-histologic correlation in patients with a thyroid disease documented through clinical-instrumental, cytological (FNAB), histological and surgical examinations. The purpose of this study is also to determine the percentage of disease incidence and evaluating any surgical indication in relation to biological behavior (benign, malignant or indeterminate lesions, occult carcinomas), sex, and age.Almost all of thyroid neoplasms is manifested through thyroid nodule. Therefore, clinical evidence of the thyroid nodule analysis is primarily related to the need to exclude malignant pathology or carcinoma of the thyroid, present in 4-6.5% of cases. The…

Endoscopic therapy of adenomas of the papilla of Vater. A retrospective analysis with long-term follow-up.

2001

Abstract Aims. To compare the efficacy and the complication rate between endoscopic snare resection of adenomas of Vater's papilla and endoscopic palliation. Methods. In a retrospective, non randomized manner, we compared long-term results of our endoscopic strategies in 36 patients with histologically confirmed adenoma of Vater's papilla submitted either to local endoscopic snare resection (n=18) or to simple endoscopic palliation (n=18), respectively. Results. Between 1985 and 1998 results were reviewed. Median age was 76.5 (range 42–89) years in the palliation, and 64.0(23–89) years in the endoscopic snare resection group. Median duration of follow-up was 33 (6–135) and 75.0 (27–123) mon…
