Building Partial Discharge Signal Wireless Probes
2014
This chapter focuses on the evaluation of the performances of different antenna sensors suitable for Partial Discharge (PD) measurements. Monopole, triangular and spherical antennas were simulated by means of the surface method of moments. The transmitting system is modeled by a power electronic device with a fault current between two metal plates. The shape of the simulated, transmitted and received signals, has been compared to verify the sensor that provides the best fidelity among the three. The auto-correlation function and the Pearson correlation index are adopted here for the comparison. A discussion on the dynamic characteristic of the different antenna probes and their use in diffe…
Stochastic Kinetics with Wave Nature
2003
We consider stochastic second-order partial differential equations. We indroduce a noisy non-linear wave equation and discuss its connections, in particular via the Lorentz transformation, with known stochastic models.

Analysis of equations arising in gyrotron theory
2012
The gyrotron is a microwave source whose operation is based on the stimulated cyclotron radiation of electrons oscillating in a static magnetic field. Powerful gyrotrons can be used to heat nuclear fusion plasma. In addition, they have found a wide utility in plasma diagnostics, plasma chemistry, radars, extra-high-resolution spectroscopy, high-temperature processing of materials, medicine, etc. However, the main application of gyrotrons is in electron cyclotron resonance heating in tokamaks and stellarators. Equations describing gyrotron operation are ordinary differential equations and Schrödinger type partial differential equations. The present paper provides a survey of the analytical a…
AN HYPERBOLIC-PARABOLIC PREDATOR-PREY MODEL INVOLVING A VOLE POPULATION STRUCTURED IN AGE
2020
Abstract We prove existence and stability of entropy solutions for a predator-prey system consisting of an hyperbolic equation for predators and a parabolic-hyperbolic equation for preys. The preys' equation, which represents the evolution of a population of voles as in [2] , depends on time, t, age, a, and on a 2-dimensional space variable x, and it is supplemented by a nonlocal boundary condition at a = 0 . The drift term in the predators' equation depends nonlocally on the density of preys and the two equations are also coupled via classical source terms of Lotka-Volterra type, as in [4] . We establish existence of solutions by applying the vanishing viscosity method, and we prove stabil…
Analysis of fit on implants of chrome cobalt versus titanium frameworks made by cad / cam milling
2020
Background This study analyzed the degree of passive and vertical fit achieved in frameworks using either cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) or titanium (Ti) implant-supported fixed partial dentures ( FPDs) fabricated with a CAD/CAM milling technique. Material and Methods 33 3-unit FDPs, 17 of Co-Cr metal alloy (test group) and 16 of Ti (control group), were manufactured with two implants by copy milled technology. Optical microscopy was used to measure passive fit (PF) and vertical fit (VF) in all frameworks. The PF was evaluated by using the Single Screw test and the VF with the screws tightened at 20 Ncm. Descriptive and inferential analysis were performed to evaluate statistically significant diff…
Oral health related quality-of-life outcomes of partially edentulous patients treated with implant-supported single crowns or fixed partial dentures
2016
Background Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) is afflicted by different variables. Limited information is available regarding the impact of different phases of implant therapy on OHRQoL of edentulous patients. This study was carried out to assess the OHRQoL of patients treated with implant-supported single crowns or fixed partial dentures. Material and Methods A total of 79 healthy partially edentulous subjects needing implant therapy were incorporated in this study. Before placement of the implants, the subjects were instructed to fill the original version of OHIP questionnaire. Subsequently patients received titanium oral implants of the ITI® Dental Implant System. After 1st, 2n…
Nonlinear Eigenvalue Problems of Schrödinger Type Admitting Eigenfunctions with Given Spectral Characteristics
2002
The following work is an extension of our recent paper [10]. We still deal with nonlinear eigenvalue problems of the form in a real Hilbert space ℋ with a semi-bounded self-adjoint operator A0, while for every y from a dense subspace X of ℋ, B(y ) is a symmetric operator. The left-hand side is assumed to be related to a certain auxiliary functional ψ, and the associated linear problems are supposed to have non-empty discrete spectrum (y ∈ X). We reformulate and generalize the topological method presented by the authors in [10] to construct solutions of (∗) on a sphere SR ≔ {y ∈ X | ∥y∥ℋ = R} whose ψ-value is the n-th Ljusternik-Schnirelman level of ψ| and whose corresponding eigenvalue is t…

Continuous numerical solutions of coupled mixed partial differential systems using Fer's factorization
1999
In this paper continuous numerical solutions expressed in terms of matrix exponentials are constructed to approximate time-dependent systems of the type ut A(t)uxx B(t)u=0; 0 0, u(0;t)=u(p;t)=0; u(x;0)=f(x);06 x6p. After truncation of an exact series solution, the numerical solution is constructed using Fer’s factorization. Given >0 and t0;t1; with 0<t0<t1 and D(t0;t1)=f(x;t); 06x6p; t06t6t1g the error of the approximated solution with respect to the exact series solution is less than uniformly in D(t0;t1). An algorithm is also included. c 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. AMS classication: 65M15, 34A50, 35C10, 35A50
