Optical sensor for remote estimation of alcohol concentration in blood stream

Abstract The purpose of this manuscript is to validate our recently developed novel optical approach for extraction of remote vibration sources as a successful technique to estimate the alcohol concentration in blood stream. This technique is based on the tracking of temporal changes of reflected secondary speckle patterns produced in human skin when being illuminated by a laser beam. Since the skin’s vibrations profile is changed due to the alcohol in the blood stream, the extraction of the vibration profile can be translated into the corresponding alcohol concentration values by means of defining several parameters acting as indicators for the presence of alcohol in the blood stream. Parallel distance transforms on pyramid machines: Theory and implementation

Abstract A distance transform of a binary image is an array each of whose elements gives the distance from the corresponding pixel to the closest ‘1’ in the binary image. Distance transforms have uses in image matching and shape analysis, among other applications. We present a parallel algorithm for weighted distance transforms that runs particularly efficiently on hierarchical cellular-logic machines, a subclass of the architectures known as pyramid machines. The algorithm computes the 3–4 distance transform; however it can be readily adapted to the city-block (‘Manhattan’) and chessboard distance measures. The exhibition El dibujado by Paco Roca (IVAM, 2019) is an exploration of the paradigm shift brought forth by the abandonment of paper and reproducibility as a space for the dissemination of the comic strip. The exhibition hall of a museum (the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno) becomes a space for formal and ephemeral experimentation at different levels, from the purely creative to the pondering about the unexplored possibilities of the language of the comic book. A reconfigurable architecture for autonomous visual-navigation

This paper describes the design of a reconfigurable architecture for implementing image processing algorithms. This architecture is a pipeline of small identical processing elements that contain a programmable logic device (FPGA) and double port memories. Directive local color transfer based on dynamic look-up table

Abstract Color transfer in image processing usually suffers from misleading color mapping and loss of details. This paper presents a novel directive local color transfer method based on dynamic look-up table (D-DLT) to solve these problems in two steps. First, a directive mapping between the source and the reference image is established based on the salient detection and the color clusters to obtain directive color transfer intention.
