Dimensioni di personalità in soggetti obesi BED e NON-BED.
2012
2018
[EN] There is a growing consensus in the mental health sciences (psychology, psychiatry) that there is no clear dividing line between "normal" personality and "abnormal" personality or mental disorders. In fact, basic personality traits predispose or overlap with clinical mental disorders. For example, Neuroticism, as a factor that predisposes to neurosis, predisposes to suffer from anxiety, depression and obsessive disorders. This question serves to present a summary of the work of our group (Antonio Caselles, Joan C. Micó and Salvador Amigó) and to point out future research. Thus, after reviewing our studies on the dynamics of the General Personality Factor (FGP) and its biological substr…
Health procrastination: The experience of 35-44 years old men
2018
The focal concept of this study is health procrastination. Delay in seeking help from medical practitioners is an increasing problem in Latvia, particularly with men between the ages of 35-44. Failures in primary and secondary prevention create a number of negative consequences, for instance, longer and more complex treatment; lower recovery prognosis as well as higher treatment costs. Nevertheless, the aforementioned group often avoids medical treatment. The aim of this study was to understand the experience of 35-44 years old men in terms of their health procrastination in qualitative terms. Semi-structured in-depth interviews with 48 men within the age range of 35-44 years were conducted…
Il disagio psichico nella post-modernità. Configurazioni di personalità e aspetti psicopatologici.
2009
Attribution style in adolescents with Down’s sindrome
2005
Educational research places emphasis on the fact that individuals who have experienced repeated failures may develop an attribution profile characterized by a bias towards primarily external causes. The aim of this study is to compare the attribution style of adolescents with Down's syndrome with that of normal children and adolescents matched for mental and chronological age; three groups consisting of 10 participants each were employed, an experimental group and two control groups were employed. The experimental group were Down's syndrome adolescents. Participants in the first control group were matched to the experimental groups for mental age, and those in the second for chronological a…
Learning to be a psychostimulants addict with self-regulation therapy
2018
This article presents the results of a single-case experiment of alternative treatments in which a participant applied the Self-Regulation Therapy (SRT) to reproduce the effects of a stimulant drug, methylphenidate, and a sedative, alcohol. The SRT is a learning procedure based on classic conditioning and suggestion that reproduces the effect of drugs by remembering the effects they have. The participant reproduced the effects of both drugs during ten sessions held on 5 consecutive days. To record effects, adjective scales were used that measured Drug effect, High, Rush, Energy, Tension and the General Factor of Personality (GFP). The results indicated that the participant was capable of in…
Impact of reslizumab on outcomes of severe asthmatic patients: current perspectives.
2018
Approximately 5%-10% of asthmatics suffer from severe asthma. New biological treatments represent a great opportunity to reduce asthma burden and to improve asthma patients' lives. Reslizumab will soon be available in several European countries. This anti-IL-5 IgG4/kappa monoclonal antibody, administered intravenously at a dose of 3 mg/kg over 20-50 minutes every 4 weeks, has been shown to be safe and effective in patients with 400 eosinophils/mu L or more in their peripheral blood. The clinical effects in reducing asthma exacerbations and in improving the quality of life and lung function are clear, but further research is needed to determine the best biological compound for a specific clu…
