Bone Marrow Concentrate and Bovine Bone Mineral for Sinus Floor Augmentation

2011

Purpose: The purpose of this work was to evaluate the potential of substituting autogenous bone (AB) by bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC). Both AB and BMAC were tested in combination with a bovine bone mineral (BBM) for their ability of new bone formation (NBF) in a multicentric, randomized, controlled, clinical and histological noninferiority trial.Materials and Methods: Forty-five severely atrophied maxillary sinus from 26 patients were evaluated in a partial cross-over design. As test arm, 34 sinus of 25 patients were augmented with BBM and BMAC containing mesenchymal stem cells. Eleven control sinus from 11 patients were augmented with a mixture of 70% BBM and 30% AB. Guided implant surgery with modification of the technique involving the raising of a semicircular miniflap: a preliminary study.

2010

Objective: An evaluation is made of pain, swelling and peri-implant attached mucosal width after implant-based rehabilitation involving guided surgery and a modification of the technique with the raising of a semicircular miniflap, in single and partial replacements. Study design: A case-control study was carried out. The study group consisted of 12 patients with the placement of 19 implants using a guided surgery and miniflap technique. The control group consisted of 12 patients with the placement of 22 implants using the conventional technique. Each patient scored postoperative swelling and pain by means of a visual analog scale (VAS). Attached vestibular mucosa width was evaluated 12 wee…

The Role of Attitudes and Ethicality on Branded Video Games(Advergames) Acceptance

2014

Advergames are branded video games that blur the line between entertainment and advertising. Advergames are gaining momentum among advertisers and advertising agencies fueled by their capability to engage teenagers and young adults with branded communications. This study focuses on consumers’ intentions to use advergames analyzing three attitudinal factors – attitude toward advertising, attitude toward product placement in video games, and attitude toward advergames- and the ethical evaluations of the use of advergames as an advertising format (ethicality). The proposed model was empirically tested using a sample of 304 college students. Major findings suggest that attitudes toward advergam…

Autorità amministrative indipendenti e controllo di costituzionalità: considerazioni a partire dalla sentenza n. 13 del 2019 della Corte costituziona…

2020

The Italian Constitutional Court has been asked to decide on a constitutional incidental question referred to it by the Antitrust Authority. Rejecting the thesis of a quasi-judicial nature of the functions exercised by the Agcm and denying the existence of "gray areas" of constitutional justice, the the judgment no.13/2019 takes a position on the institutional placement of the Authorities within the administration. This, in addition to offering elements for reflections on the constitutional model of reference, requires important legal repercussions in terms of the effectiveness of the constitutional protection of connsidered interests.

Prediction of CRT Activation Sequence by Personalization of Biventricular Models from Electroanatomical Maps

2020

[EN] Optimization of lead placement and interventricular delay settings in patients under cardiac resynchronization therapy is a complex task that might benefit from prior information based on models. Biophysical models can be used to predict the sequence of electrical heart activation in a patient given a set of parameters which should be personalized to the patient. In this paper, we use electroanatomical maps to personalize the endocardial activation of the right ventricle, and the different tissue conductivities in a pig model with left bundle branch block, to reproduce personalized biventricular activations. Following, we tested the personalized heart model by virtually simulating card…

Improved technique for stereotactic placement of nerve grafts between two locations inside the rat brain

2008

Peripheral nerve grafts have shown the ability to facilitate central axonal growth and regenerate the adult central nervous system. However, the detailed description of a technique for atraumatic graft placement within the brain is lacking. We present a stereotactic procedure to implant a peripheral nerve graft within a rat's brain with minimal brain tissue damage. The procedure permits a correct graft placement joining two chosen points, and the survival and integration of the graft in the host tissue with a light glial reaction, with evidence of central axonal growth inside the graft, at least up to 8 weeks after its implantation. Methodology for Structured Data-Path Implementation in VLSI Physical Design: A Case Study

2022

State-of-the-art modern microprocessor and domain-specific accelerator designs are dominated by data-paths composed of regular structures, also known as bit-slices. Random logic placement and routing techniques may not result in an optimal layout for these data-path-dominated designs. As a result, implementation tools such as Cadence’s Innovus include a Structured Data-Path (SDP) feature that allows data-path placement to be completely customized by constraining the placement engine. A relative placement file is used to provide these constraints to the tool. However, the tool neither extracts nor automatically places the regular data-path structures. In other words, the relative placement f…

A Case for Raising the Camera: A Driving Simulator Test of Camera-Monitor Systems

2021

Objective This experiment provides a first-of-its-kind driving-simulator study to investigate the feasibility of camera-monitor systems (CMS) with displaced side-mounted cameras in sedans. Background Among the increasing number of studies investigating the replacement of side-mounted rearview mirrors with CMS, the placement of side-mounted cameras has been largely neglected. Moreover, user preferences with respect to camera placement have not been validated in a driving simulator. Past research merely has shown that the vertical camera position can affect distance perception. Method In a driving simulator experiment, we investigated the effects of rearward camera placement on driver accepta…

Product Placement Bibliometric Study: Generic Journals Versus Specific-Communication Journals

2021

Media fragmentation represents new challenges for product placement strategies to become an increasingly effective way to reach consumers and non-users. In this frame, this paper has been developed with three main objectives: (i) to carry on a performance analysis to measure the visibility/impact of the scientific product in product placement (most cited authors, journals, and themes), (ii) to visually present the scientific structure by topics of research in product placement as well as its evolution to identify future research lines, and (iii) to compare both objectives in generic journals and specific communication ones. To this end, the resources in the Web of Science Citation Index wer…

Dynamic and static computer-guided surgery using the double-factor technique for completely edentulous patients: A dental technique.

2021

A novel computer-assisted surgery (CAS) technique that merges dynamic and static CAS approaches to treat completely edentulous patients with dental implants is described. Radiographic and surgical stents are designed with specific fiducial markers that are recognized by the static and dynamic CAS software program. During the surgical procedure, implants are placed following the static surgical guide and the indications from the dynamic navigation system. This technique combines the advantages of static and dynamic CAS approaches to allow accurate and predictable minimally invasive implant placement.
