The Romantics of 1909: Arthur Symons, Pierre Lasserre and T. E. Hulme

Arthur Symons’s The Romantic Movement in English Poetry (1909) has elicited scant discussion. Part dictionary of British authors born before 1800, part series of portraits of canonical Romantic poets, The Romantic Movement remains perplexing with its unclear purpose and ungainly format. This article argues that Symons’s monograph should be approached in the turn of the century debate on the definition and value of British Romanticism. As opposed to T. E. A través de la comparación de tres poemas amorosos de Quevedo con otros tantos del autor italiano Luigi Groto, el presente trabajo pretende demostrar que la imitación o reelaboración quevediana de otros autores no es nunca mecánica sino que conlleva siempre la aportación de recursos originales que consiguen renovar la tradición. How Islamic are young Muslim people’s poems?

In this article, I investigate poetry written by two young Muslim people during their spare time. Adopting Shahab Ahmed’s (2016) understanding of Islamic in its plenitude and complexity, I ask how Islamic their texts are. The participants, Neda and Mohammed (both pseudonyms), grew up in Islamic countries where they were socialised in faith literacy practices, including practices around sacred and devotional texts, before moving to Norway in their teens. Tematiche e suggestioni catulliane in «Carmina Burana» 119 e 120

Carmina Burana (CB) 119 (Dulce solum natalis patrie) and 120 (Rumor letalis) are two medieval latin love poems of XIIth-XIIIth century which both show Catullan flavour, themes and suggestions. In this paper, after a short introduction about the very exiguous knowledge of Catull’s poems between VIth and XIIIth century, I try to give a strict analysis of CB 119 and 120, at the light of Catullan themes and suggestions which occur in these poems.
