Electromyographic Activity Evolution of Local Twitch Responses During Dry Needling of Latent Trigger Points in the Gastrocnemius Muscle: A Cross-Sect…
2019
Abstract Objective Trigger points (TrPs) are hypersensitive spots within taut bands of skeletal muscles that elicit referred pain and motor changes. Among the variety of techniques used for treating TrPs, dry needling is one of the most commonly applied interventions. The question of eliciting local twitch responses (LTRs) during TrP dry needling is unclear. Our main aim was to investigate the evolution of the electromyographic (EMG) peak activity of each LTR elicited during dry needling into latent TrPs of the gastrocnemius medialis muscle. Methods Twenty asymptomatic subjects with latent TrPs in the gastrocnemius medialis muscle participated in this cross-sectional study. Changes in EMG s…
Prevalence, incidence, localization, and pathophysiology of myofascial trigger points in patients with spinal pain : a systematic literature review
2015
Abstract Objective A systematic review was performed to evaluate the existing evidence related to the prevalence, incidence, localization, and pathophysiology of myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in patients with spinal (back and neck) pain. Methods A systematic review following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines was performed in 2 electronic databases (PubMed and Web of Science) using predefined keywords regarding MTrPs and spinal pain. A “PICOS” questionnaire was used to set up the search strategies and inclusion criteria. Full-text reports concerning MTrPs in patients with back or neck pain, which described their prevalence, incidence, location,…
Spatial Cognition 2020/1: Book of abstracts : August 2-4, 2021, University of Latvia
2021
Spatial Cognition is concerned with the acquisition, development, representation, organization, and use of knowledge about spatial objects in real, virtual or hybrid environments and processed by human or artificial agents. Spatial Cognition includes research from different fields insofar as they are concerned with cognitive agents and space, such as cognitive and developmental psychology, linguistics, computer science, geography, cartography, philosophy, neuroscience, and education. Research issues in the field range from the investigation of human spatial cognition to mobile robot navigation, including topics such as wayfinding, spatial planning, spatial learning, internal and external re…
Evaluation of Innovation Statistics Data Quality Dimensions.
2017
Common fixed points in ordered Banach spaces
2008
In this paper we introduce the notion of g-weak isotone mappings in an ordered Banach space and we extend some common fixed point theorems of Dhage, O’Regan and Agarwal

Jacobi Fields, Conjugate Points
2001
Let us go back to the action principle as realized by Jacobi, i.e., time is eliminated, so we are dealing with the space trajectory of a particle. In particular, we want to investigate the conditions under which a path is a minimum of the action and those under which it is merely an extremum. For illustrative purposes we consider a particle in two-dimensional real space.
Modelling Recurrent Events for Improving Online Change Detection
2016
The task of online change point detection in sensor data streams is often complicated due to presence of noise that can be mistaken for real changes and therefore affecting performance of change detectors. Most of the existing change detection methods assume that changes are independent from each other and occur at random in time. In this paper we study how performance of detectors can be improved in case of recurrent changes. We analytically demonstrate under which conditions and for how long recurrence information is useful for improving the detection accuracy. We propose a simple computationally efficient message passing procedure for calculating a predictive probability distribution of …
