Measuring viewers’ experiences of films has become a critical issue for filmmakers because all kinds of audiences now have access to new releases from all over the world. Some approaches have focused on the cognitive level of the experience, while others have emphasized the structure of films. A cultural heritage experience for visually impaired people

Abstract In recent years, we have assisted to an impressive advance of computer vision algorithms, based on image processing and artificial intelligence. Among the many applications of computer vision, in this paper we investigate on the potential impact for enhancing the cultural and physical accessibility of cultural heritage sites. By using a common smartphone as a mediation instrument with the environment, we demonstrate how convolutional networks can be trained for recognizing monuments in the surroundings of the users, thus enabling the possibility of accessing contents associated to the monument itself, or new forms of fruition for visually impaired people. On real-time algorithms for the location search of discontinuous conductivities with one measurement

We discuss, and compare, two simple methods that provide coordinates of a point in the vicinity of one inclusion within some object with homogeneous electrical properties. In the context of nondestructive testing such an inclusion may correspond to a material defect, whereas in medicine this may correspond to a lesion in the brain, to name only two possible applications. Electroencephalography (EEG) is one fundamental tool for functional brain imaging. EEG signals tend to be represented by a vector or a matrix to facilitate data processing and analysis with generally understood methodologies like time-series analysis, spectral analysis and matrix decomposition. A Note on Keys and Keystreams of Chacha20 for Multi-key Channels

In this paper we analyze the keystreams generated by the Chacha20 stream cipher. We also compare these to the ones generated by its predecessor, the RC4 stream cipher. Due to the proposed multi-key channels in the upcoming TLS 1.3 standard we analyze the behavior of the keystream in the boundary case where there is a single bit difference between two keys used for the initiation of the stream cipher algorithms. The goal is to check whether a single bit change in the key has any predictable influence on the bits of the keystream output.

This paper deals with the implementation, in a high density reconfigurable device, of an entire log-polar image processing system. The log-polar vision reduces the amount of data to be stored and processed, simplifying several vision algorithms and making it possible the implementation of a complete processing system on a single chip. Post-Translational Regulation of CYP450s Metabolism As Revealed by All-Atoms Simulations of the Aromatase Enzyme.

Phosphorylation by kinases enzymes is a widespread regulatory mechanism able of rapidly altering the function of target proteins. Among these are cytochrome P450s (CYP450), a superfamily of enzymes performing the oxidation of endogenous and exogenous substrates thanks to the electron supply of a redox partner. In spite of its pivotal role, the molecular mechanism by which phosphorylation modulates CYP450s metabolism remains elusive. The La antigen shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm in CV-1 cells

Recently we established a monoclonal antibody against the La-protein (Bachmann et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 83, 7770, 1986). The antibody gives a nuclear speckled type staining and, in addition, a perinuclear cytoplasmic staining on cultured cells in immunofluorescence microscopy. After inhibition of RNA synthesis the La-protein is transported into the cytoplasm. After prolonged inhibition it returns into the nucleus forming large growing speckles. The transport into the nucleus apparently depends on glycosylation.
