MHT-X: Offline Multiple Hypothesis Tracking with Algorithm X

An efficient and versatile implementation of offline multiple hypothesis tracking with Algorithm X for optimal association search was developed using Python. The code is intended for scientific applications that do not require online processing. Directed graph framework is used and multiple scans with progressively increasing time window width are used for edge construction for maximum likelihood trajectories. Stochastic multicriteria evaluation of district heating systems considering the uncertainties

It is of great importance to choose a suitable district heating (DH) system for a specific DH area from the economics, environment and energy (3E) points of view. This is a multicriteria decision making problem, in which the criteria performance values (PVs) and weighting are characterized by uncertain or imprecise information. In this study, seven candidate DH systems are evaluated from the viewpoints of 3E by the stochastic multicriteria acceptability analysis (SMAA) method. Abstract Mixing efficiency is lower in passive micromixers due to viscous forces and substantial research effort is focused on designing high performance micromixers. Active micromixers make use of external forces to enhance mixing efficiency. Among these, magnetic forces are popular because they are non-contact and therefore the micromixer design can be kept simple. Heat exchangers and linear image processing theory

Abstract This paper shows that the transient analysis of some heat exchangers can be derived easily with the linear equations of image processing theory. Partial differential equations of the cross-flow, parallelflow and rotary heat exchangers are considered together with the corresponding discrete models for linear image processing. Some numerical examples show that the nature of the heat and/or mass transfer problems is similar to those of image processing.

Physics of agarose fluid gels: Rheological properties and microstructure

Agarose, a strongly gelling polysaccharide, is a common ingredient used to optimize the viscoelastic properties of a multitude of food products. Through aggregation of double helices via hydrogen bonds while cooling under quiescent conditions it forms firm and brittle gels. However, this behavior can be altered by manipulating the processing conditions viz shear. For example, gelation under shear leads to microgel particles with large surface area, which in turn leads to completely different rheological properties and texture. Protein diffusion in mammalian cell cytoplasm.

We introduce a new method for mesoscopic modeling of protein diffusion in an entire cell. This method is based on the construction of a three-dimensional digital model cell from confocal microscopy data. The model cell is segmented into the cytoplasm, nucleus, plasma membrane, and nuclear envelope, in which environment protein motion is modeled by fully numerical mesoscopic methods. Finer cellular structures that cannot be resolved with the imaging technique, which significantly affect protein motion, are accounted for in this method by assigning an effective, position-dependent porosity to the cell. Fluorescence and spin properties of defects in single digit nanodiamonds

International audience; This article reports stable photoluminescence and high-contrast optically detected electron spin resonance (ODESR) from single nitrogen-vacancy (NV) defect centers created within ultrasmall, disperse nanodiamonds of radius less than 4 nm. Unexpectedly, the efficiency for the production of NV fluorescent defects by electron irradiation is found to be independent of the size of the nanocrystals. Fluorescence lifetime imaging shows lifetimes with a mean value of around 17 ns, only slightly longer than the bulk value of the defects.
