Measurement of the production cross-section of positive pions in the collision of 8.9 GeV/c protons on beryllium

The double-differential production cross-section of positive pions, $d^2\sigma^{\pi^{+}}/dpd\Omega$, measured in the HARP experiment is presented. The incident particles are 8.9 GeV/c protons directed onto a beryllium target with a nominal thickness of 5% of a nuclear interaction length. The measured cross-section has a direct impact on the prediction of neutrino fluxes for the MiniBooNE and SciBooNE experiments at Fermilab. After cuts, 13 million protons on target produced about 96,000 reconstructed secondary tracks which were used in this analysis. The purpose of this research is to identify typical professional and occupational groups in service-intensive projects, and illustrate the inbuilt tensions among them through the lens of institutional theory. The cases used for the study are a wind turbine business and a content management system project business. Our findings suggest that there are two professional groups (problem solvers, technology developers) and two occupational groups (lead generators, relationship developers) involved in these businesses. Although 5-fluorouracil remains the mainstay of treatment for advanced gastric cancer (AGC), no standard chemotherapy regimen exists. Combinations of irinotecan with folinic acid and infusional 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) (ILF) have shown good efficacy with acceptable toxicity in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. At present, only sparse data on ILF are available for AGC. Therefore we conducted a prospective study of this combination in 25 consecutive patients with metastatic gastric cancer. A pilot study in 62 patients has been carried out to evaluate the combination of epirubicin and interferon (IFN)-alpha 2b using different doses and schedules of intravesical administration in the prevention of recurrence of bladder cancer. Preliminary results show greater prophylactic efficacy not only when higher doses of epirubicin and IFN-alpha 2b are used but also when a larger interval between instillation of the compounds was used.
