Striving for greater economic growth, requires a great understanding of the underlying factors. One of the factors may be the intellectual property rights and the level of its protection. Whether it is and how does it behave are the questions answered by this thesis. The theoretical framework comes mainly from the Schumpeterian growth model. The empirical methodology uses GMM in order to obtain reliable results. The study evaluates the spatial structure of the landscape in the Upper Oder valley along a section of about 100 km. It is a part of the valley with the strongest anthropopressure. According to the theory of ecosystem services, one of the functions of the Oder valley landscape is protection of its biodiversity. It is fulfilled by protecting valuable relicts of pristine ecosystems of the valley and by ensuring the function of an ecological corridor. The most important in it are riparian forests and oak-hornbeam forests, meadows, swamps, peatbogs and old river beds. At forest sites, phytotoxic tropospheric ozone (O3) can be monitored with continuously operating, active monitors (AM) or passive, cumulative samplers (PM). For the first time, we present evidence that the sustainability of active monitoring is better than that of passive sensors, as the environmental, economic, and social costs are usually lower in the former than in the latter.
