The potential application of two types of industrial wastes, drill cuttings (DC) and copper slag (CS), as silica-rich modifiers of poly(ɛ-caprolactone) (PCL) was investigated. Chemical structure and physical properties of DC and CS fillers were characterized using X-ray diffractometer, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, particle size and density measurements. PCL/DC and PCL/CS composites with a variable content of filler (5 to 50 parts by weight) were prepared by melt compounding in an internal mixer. Abstract The efficiency of two commercially available organic peroxides, dicumyl peroxide (DCP) and di-(2-tert-butyl-peroxyisopropyl)-benzene (BIB), during reactive processing of poly(e-caprolactone)/poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PCL/PHB) blends was investigated. Novel papain-family cathepsin L-like cysteine protease inhibitors endowed with antitrypanosomal and antimalarial activity were developed, through an optimization study of previously developed inhibitors. In the present work, we studied the structure-activity relationships of these derivatives, with the aim to develop new analogues with a simplified and more synthetically accessible structure and with improved antiparasitic activity. Parenting, Peer Relationships, Academic Self-efficacy, and Academic Achievement: Direct and Mediating Effects

The aim of the present study is to analyze the relation between authoritative and permissive parenting styles with the kinds of adolescent peer relationships (attachment, victimization, or aggression), and of the latter ones, in turn, with academic self-efficacy, and academic performance, in three waves that range from the early-mid adolescence to late adolescence. Five hundred Spanish adolescents, of both sexes, participated in a three-wave longitudinal study in Valencia, Spain. Abstract Mastering emotions and developing relationship skills are considered vital in this century of change. The current study meets the need of active experimentation with new ways of building educational relationships at early ages. The chosen theme is relevant and timely for both theory and educational practice. An innovation of the relationship models that is to place an accent on children's involvement and value in the educational process is required. We appreciate that we cannot value the voice of children in their absence. A re-examination and reconstruction of adult attitudes to create a better world for children becomes the new trend.

The trail-following pheromone and sex pheromones were investigated in the Indomalayan termite Hodotermopsis sjoestedti belonging to the new family Archotermopsidae. Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) after solid phase microextraction (SPME) of the sternal gland secretion of pseudergates and trail-following bioassays demonstrated that the trailfollowing pheromone of H. sjoestedti was syn-4,6-dimethylundecan-1-ol, a new chemical structure for termite pheromones. GC-MS after SPME of the sternal gland secretion of alates also allowed the identification of sex-specific compounds. Study of relationships between the structure of aroma compounds and their retention-release between vapour phase and dairy gels

An integrated approach physicochemistry and structures activity relationships has been carried out to study the aroma compounds retention-release phenomenon in a fat free dairy gel added with pectin. This study aimed to identify the molecular properties that govern this phenomenon assuming that modifying the structure leads automatically to a change in the retention-release of aroma compounds.
