In his work De…
SHAKESPEARE AND THE ITALIAN RENAISSANCE: Appropriation, Transformation, Opposition.
2014
Renaissance Itineraries between Nebrodi and Peloritani: Architectural Heritage, History and Technology
2022
Within the general framework of a research Project of Relevant National Interest (PRIN 2017), entitled “The Renaissance in Southern Italy and the Islands: Cultural Heritage and Technology”, the research unit based at Palermo University focused on the inner area that includes Nebrodi and Peloritani mountains, as a quite unexplored and stimulating environment in the specific field of investigation. The scientific relevance of the investigation on “Renaissance itineraries” in this territory, for a deeper understanding of the overall cultural phenomenon in the island, guided this choice, as well as the opportunity to create cultural networks among small local communities, encouraging their sust…
The “RENAISSANCE” Trial: Effect of chemotherapy alone vs. chemotherapy followed by surgical resection on survival and quality of life in patients wit…
2017
TPS4140 Background: Recent data indicates that surgical resection may bring a benefit for select patients with metastatic gastric / esophagogastric junction cancer. However, no data obtained in randomized trials is available up to now. The current RENAISSANCE trial investigates this long-lasting question about the role of surgical intervention in limited-metastatic gastric / esophagogastric junction cancer. Methods: This is a prospective, multicenter, randomized, investigator initiated phase III trial. In this study, previously untreated patients with limited metastatic stage (retroperitoneal lymph node metastases only or a maximum of one incurable organ site that is potentially resectable…
Foundations and Foundation Myths of the Troubadours
2019
A review of several origin myths relating to the creation of medieval Occitan lyric poetry. We see a preference for a “great man theory” of origins, though the “great man” may be a fictional woman. Medieval and early Renaissance Occitan authors, including Uc de Saint Circ, Guilhem Molinier, and Jean de Nostredame, used differing origin myths to validate literature in a language that was perceived not to carry the prestige of twelfth- and thirteenth-century Latin or fifteen- and sixteenth-century French.
María de Fonseca (c. 1486-1521) and the Marquis of Zenete (1473-1523): Aristocratic Rebels and Patrons of Renaissance Culture
2016

Ostensori architettonici in Sicilia tra suggestioni iberiche e rinascimentali
2022
Through the analysis of six architectural monstrances housed in churches and museums in Sicily, the formal and compositional languages that, between Iberian and Renaissance suggestions, characterize these masterpieces of sacred art are analyzed. They are small silver architectures, produced between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries, which are influenced by the Catalan Gothic influences and the Italian Renaissance, in a peculiar Sicilian synthesis.
