Investigation on the indentation behavior of sandwich beams using crushable and hyperelastic foam cores

In this work the indentation behaviour of sandwich beams is studied adopting the classical approach representing the core material as a Winkler-type foundation. It is shown how most of the proposed theories can be derived from a general fourth order linear differential equation expressing the equilibrium of the indented beam skin. Different assumptions on the supporting boundary constraints and materials constitutive behaviour, lead to simplifications of the general equation and to the prediction of different indentation features. AbstractThe South Sandwich Volcanic Arc is one of the most remote and enigmatic arcs on Earth. Sporadic observations from rare cloud-free satellite images—and even rarer in situ reports—provide glimpses into a dynamic arc system characterised by persistent gas emissions and frequent eruptive activity. Our understanding of the state of volcanic activity along this arc is incomplete compared to arcs globally. To fill this gap, we present here detailed geological and volcanological observations made during an expedition to the South Sandwich Islands in January 2020. Abstract The sacral complex of the Valle dei Templi in Agrigento, added in the UNESCO Heritage Site List, stands over the crest of a rigid calcarenite cuesta, which overlies a layer of partially saturated (S = 6–12%) carbonate sand. In turn, the sand stratum lies on a thick stratum of clays. The environment is highly prone to landslides as highlighted by several previous studies that identify the undermining of slopes and the discontinuity pattern, occurred in the late Neotectonic phase, as causes of cliff failure. Otrzymano kompleksy z Eu oraz Yb w wyniku ogrzewania mieszaniny octanu danego lantanowca z dicyjanobenzenem, odpowiednio w temperaturze 290 i 360ºC. Głównym produktem reakcji był sandwiczowy kompleks typu LnPc2, natomiast jako produkt uboczny powstaje monoftalocyjanina, LnPcX (Pc= C32H16N8, ligand ftalocyjaninowy; Ln = Eu, Yb; X = AcO−). Obydwa kompleksy otrzymano w czystej postaci metodą chromatografii typu „flash” na złożu Al2O3. Określono ich fotostabilność w warunkach naświetlania promieniowaniem UV o długości fali 366 nm. Three Farmers on their Way to a Dance, titre d’une photographie qu’August Sander prit en 1914, hante le roman éponyme de Richard Powers. Cette photographie faisait partie d’un projet plus vaste, intitulé « Hommes du vingtième siècle » par Sander qui entendait dresser un inventaire des habitants de sa province natale, le Westerwald. Sander composa ainsi un catalogue de plus de 600 photos d’Allemands de tous types, dont il fit plus tard paraître une partie sous le nom de Visage de notre temps.
