A number of neurodegenerative diseases involve protein aggregation and amyloid formation. Recently evidence has emerged indicating small-transient prefibrillar oligomers as the primary pathogenic agents. Effect of self-determined motivation in physical education on objectively measured habitual physical activity

Grounded in the trans-contextual model, the purpose of the present study was to examine the role of self-determined motivation in Physical Education (PE) on self-determined motivation in Physical Activity (PA), PA intention, and accelerometer-measured habitual PA behavior among high-school aged adolescents. A sample of 394 Spanish high-school students (211 males and 183 females; aged 12-16 years) participated in the present study. Abstract In pragmatic theories, the notion of inference plays a central role, together with the communicative act in which it is activated. Although some scholars, such as Levinson, Sperber and Wilson, propose detailed and accurate analyses of this notion, we will maintain that these analyses can be better systematized if seen through Peirce’s notion of abduction. Feedback practices in language classes in Finnish general upper secondary schools

As feedback and formative assessment have a substantial effect on learning, the aim with this paper is to report on a study of the perceptions of Finnish general upper secondary school students of feedback in Swedish and English classes, and to compare how the perceptions differ at language proficiency (CEFR) levels. The data were collected by using a survey and were analysed quantitatively. The results show that several differences occur in Swedish: students with higher proficiency levels find feedback more useful, feel that they receive feedback from teachers, and are more willing to correct their own mistakes. Varieties of algebras with pseudoinvolution and polynomial growth

Let A be an associative algebra with pseudoinvolution (Formula presented.) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and let (Formula presented.) be its sequence of (Formula presented.) -codimensions. We shall prove that such a sequence is polynomially bounded if and only if the variety generated by A does not contain five explicitly described algebras with pseudoinvolution. Influència del sexe i l'edat en el raonament moral prosocial dels estudiants de secundària

Aquest treball presenta una aproximació a l'estudi del raonament moral prosocial i de les variables que infl ueixen en el seu desenvolupament. L'objectiu principal és determinar en quina mesura la variable sexe i la variable edat infl ueixen en el raonament moral prosocial dels adolescents. L'estudi es realitza amb una mostra d'estudiants de secundària (n=114), homes i dones. Els resultats indiquen que les dues variables analitzades (sexe i edat) tenen un efecte signifi catiu sobre el raonament moral prosocial. PLANT SUCCESSION ON SICILIAN TERRACES

189 phytosociological relevés have been made in five areas of Sicily, three on volcanic substrates and two on limestones, to study plant community succession trends within abandoned terraced vineyards and cereal fields. Disturbance status and abandonment age was recorded for each sample plot. DCA of these relevés suggests that four are the most important factors driving succession, i.e. geological substrate, bioclimate, age of abandonment and disturbance.
