Memory-Efficient Sliding Window Progressive Meshes

Progressive mesh is a data structure that encodes a continuous spectrum of mesh approximations. Sliding window progressive meshes (SWPM) minimize data transfers between CPU and GPU by storing mesh data in static on-GPU memory buffers [For01]. The main disadvantages of the original SWPM algorithm are poor vertex cache usage efficiency, and big resulting datasets. Connectivity-based algorithm [KT04] achieves a good vertex cache coherence but it does not address the problem of high memory utilization. ON SOME GENERALIZATION OF SMOOTHING PROBLEMS

The paper deals with the generalized smoothing problem in abstract Hilbert spaces. This generalized problem involves particular cases such as the interpolating problem, the smoothing problem with weights, the smoothing problem with obstacles, the problem on splines in convex sets and others. The theorem on the existence and characterization of a solution of the generalized problem is proved. It is shown how the theorem gives already known theorems in special cases as well as some new results.
The WEBT BL Lacertae Campaign 2001 and its extension : Optical light curves and colour analysis 1994–2002

BL Lacertae has been the target of four observing campaigns by the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT) collaboration. In this paper we present UBVRI light curves obtained by theWEBT from 1994 to 2002, including the last, extended BL Lac 2001 campaign. A total of about 7500 optical observations performed by 31 telescopes from Japan to Mexico have been collected, to be added to the ∼15 600 observations of the BL Lac Campaign 2000. All these data allow one to follow the source optical emission behaviour with unprecedented detail. On the example of the famous Lorenz system, the difficulties and opportunities of reliable numerical analysis of chaotic dynamical systems are discussed in this article. For the Lorenz system, the boundaries of global stability are estimated and the difficulties of numerically studying the birth of self-excited and hidden attractors, caused by the loss of global stability, are discussed. The problem of reliable numerical computation of the finite-time Lyapunov dimension along the trajectories over large time intervals is discussed. Tutkimuksen kohteena on iltapäivälehtien televisio-ohjelmauutisointi syksyllä 2012 ja siinä näkyvät aihevalinnat, asenteet ja trendit, sekä iltapäivälehtien ja televisio-ohjelmien tapa luoda ja ylläpitää yhdessä julkisia puheenaiheita. Keskeisessä osassa ovat konsernikytkökset ja vertaaminen aikaisempaan, noin kymmenen vuoden takaiseen aiheesta tehtyyn tutkimukseen. Les puits de l’oppidum de l’Ermitage (Agen, Lot-et-Garonne).

Within the context of a “projet collectif de recherche”, the publication of works directed by Richard Boudet on the hillfort of the Ermitage in Agen, two wells have been studied. The analysis of structures and artefacts (pottery, metal, wood) suggests that they were probably used to draw water and not devoted to chthonian rituals. Comparisons with other wells un South West of Gaul suggest that in most cases, they may have been used in the same way, even though, in very few cases rituals relating to the domestic field cannot be excluded.
