The Sicilian populations of Helichisum have got a germoplasm from which it is possible to select ornamental plants to be placed in a mediterranean and/or dry climate. The in vitro trials show an attitude for microprapagation and multiplication for commerciaI productions that can be used also for the re·introduction in the natural habitat. The highest multiplication rate belongs to three genotypes: H. hyblaeum (clone S6), H. nebrodense (Clone Cli) and H. rupestre var. rupestre (clone S2, S11). The landscape is commonly defined as the set of physical and historical-anthropological characters expressed by a territory. Our re-elaboration defines the landscape as the set of perceivable characters of a territory expressed in relation to the stratification of the occurred natural and cultural processes. The Grand Tour reports are one of the most effective means to fix at least one stage of evolution from the Sicilian landscape, before its further transformation. The Sicilian Mafia is a criminal organisation founded in Sicily which is an island south of the Italian mainland in the Mediterranean Sea. Until recently, this organization was responsible for many murders and bombings. However, recently, based on the investigations known as the “Mare Nostrum” operation, the Supreme Court convicted 67 people and sent them to prison. Some defendants were found guilty of as many as 39 murders. This article reviews the forensic analysis that was used when investigating responsibility for these Mafia murders. In this paper, the application of a multi-analytical approach for the characterisation of synthetic and natural dyes in a historical textile is presented. The work is focused on a historical dress of a Sicilian noblewoman, dating from about 1865–1870. Firstly, SERS on fibre was performed, in order to individuate the classes of dyes employed. The SERS spectra suggested the presence of two main dyes: mauveine and orcein. In order to confirm these preliminary results, two different extraction protocols were applied. The essay reconstructs the origins of some Sicilian medieval hospitals and the political, economic and social dynamics that led to their foundation, attempting to shed light on the relationship between royal power and city autonomy.

Una conoscenza approfondita delle specie appartenenti al genere Hypericum, finalizzata alla loro introduzione negli ordinamenti colturali come specie di interesse industriale e/o ornamentale, comporta la dettagliata descrizione dei parametri morfologici e ambientali delle piante nei loro siti di vegetazione spontanea, e l’accertamento delle loro caratteristiche fitochimiche. La popolazione blastomicetica di olive verdi da tavola, prodotte a partire da 4 diverse cultivar siciliane (Brandofino, Castriciana, Nocellara del Belice, Passulunara) e da una spagnola (Manzanilla), è stata monitorata durante l’intero processo di fermentazione. La tecnologia produttiva poteva definirsi di tipo semi-industriale, giacché il ruolo della microflora lattica era parzialmente sostituito dall’aggiunta di acido lattico e la fermentazione naturale avveniva in salamoia all’8% di NaCl.
