Aims: In this study, we aimed to investigate what competencies are needed for mental health promotion in health sector practice in Finland. Methods: A qualitative study was carried out to seek the views of mental health professionals regarding mental health promotion-related competencies. The data were collected via two focus groups and a questionnaire survey of professionals working in the health sector in Finland. The focus groups consisted of a total of 13 professionals. Recientes estudios han demostrado el escaso hábito lector de los estudiantes universitarios españoles, así como la falta de solidez de su competencia literaria. Estas limitaciones ponen de relieve la necesidad de la lectura guiada, una propuesta didáctica que suele relacionarse con los niveles iniciales de la enseñanza, pero cuya necesidad se hace cada vez más imperiosa en la educación superior. En este contexto, el presente artículo apuesta por el seminario de lectura como una de las estrategias más efectivas, a la par que estimulantes, para acompañar a los universitarios en ese aprendizaje. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan lukiolaisten historiallista päättelyä tutkivan historian oppimisen viikolla tuotettujen tekstien kautta. Viikon aikana opiskelijat selvittivät ratkaisematonta historiallista tapahtumaa juhannukselta 1957. Tuolloin tasavallan presidentin kesäasuntoa kohti ammuttiin laukauksia, joiden tehtävä oli joko pelotella tai murhata presidentti Urho Kekkonen. Kurssille osallistui 24 opiskelijaa, jotka toimivat seitsemässä ryhmässä analysoiden primääri- ja sekundäärilähteitä ja muodostaen näkemystään Kultarannan tapahtumiin. This article revolves around three key issues. First, over the last 30 years, the traditional approach to history teaching as memorization of facts and chains of events has been changing. Currently, the Finnish national core curriculum fixes the focus of history teaching on students’ critical and historical thinking skills. The home literacy model in a highly transparent orthography

We investigated the extent to which home literacy activities during the preschool year would predict the development of children’s language and literacy skills in primary school, in a highly transparent Finnish language. Also, the correlates of maternal literacy activities during preschool were examined. Literacy and language skills of 1,880 children (6-year-olds at the baseline) were tested at 5 time points from the beginning of preschool to the end of Year 2; mothers filled in questionnaires at the end of preschool.
