Angesichts von jahrlich mehr als 800.000 Todesfallen weltweit, davon mehr als 10.000 in Deutschland, kommt wirkungsvollen Masnahmen zur Suizidpravention auf nationaler wie internationaler Ebene entscheidende Bedeutung zu. Die Kommunikation uber Suizide gilt dabei zum einen als Risikofaktor, zum anderen als Moglichkeit, Suizide zu verhindern. Der Beitrag nahert sich diesem Spannungsfeld zwischen „Werther-“ und „Papageno-Effekt“, beschreibt theoretische Hintergrunde, Forschungsstand und Implikationen und leitet Empfehlungen fur die Kommunikations- und Medienpraxis ab.
Gender, Coping, and Mental Health: a Bayesian Network Model Analysis

We examined the relationships among gender, coping, and mental health in terms of probabilities. We selected a sample of university students (N = 131) aged between 18 and 32 years, and used the GHQ-28 and COPE instruments for analysis. The Bayesian network model that we constructed showed higher probabilities of symptoms of mental health problems for emotion-focused coping than for problem-focused coping. No differences were found regarding gender. This suggests that the use of problem-focused coping is more recommendable for both male and female university students, and it may also provide some benefits in terms of treatment of symptoms of mental health problems. This study investigated the role of informal sport settings (i.e. self-organised and non-voluntary sports clubs) in the social integration of Ethiopian and Eritrean women into Swiss society. Social integration seen as a multidimensional, interdependent process between the interaction of social bond, bridge and links; and two-way interaction between the migrant and local community.
