Bis‐μ‐pyrazolate‐Bridged Dinickel(II) and Dicopper(II) Complexes: An Example of Stereoelectronic Preference of Metal Ions and Stabilization of Mixed‐…
2007
New dimeric nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes [(L)Ni(μ-L′)]2[ClO4]21 and [(L)Cu(μ-L′)]2[ClO4]22, [2-[3-(2′-pyridyl)pyrazol-1-ylmethyl]pyridine (L) and 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole (HL′)] have been synthesized, structurally characterized, and their absorption, magnetic, EPR and redox properties investigated. The crystal structure of 1·MeCN reveals a planar {Ni2(μ-L′)2}2+ core [Ni···Ni separation: 4.0765(10) A] in which each distorted octahedral NiII ions is terminally coordinated by a tridentate ligand L and bridged by two HL′ units, in their deprotonated form. The structural analysis of 2·2MeCN reveals two five-coordinate CuII ions, each terminally coordinated by adopting only a bidentate coordi…
New family of thiocyanate-bridged Re(IV)-SCN-M(II) (M = Ni, Co, Fe, and Mn) heterobimetallic compounds: synthesis, crystal structure, and magnetic pr…
2012
The heterobimetallic complexes of formula [(Me(2)phen)(2)M(μ-NCS)Re(NCS)(5)]·CH(3)CN [Me(2)phen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and M = Ni (1), Co (2), Fe (3), and Mn (4)] have been prepared, and their crystal structures have been determined by X-ray diffraction on single crystals. Compounds 1-4 crystallize in the monoclinic C2/c space group, and their structure consists of neutral [(Me(2)phen)(2)M(μ-NCS)Re(NCS)(5)] heterodinuclear units with a Re-SCN-M bridge. Each Re(IV) ion in this series is six-coordinated with one sulfur and five nitrogen atoms from six thiocyanate groups building a somewhat distorted octahedral environment, whereas the M(II) metal ions are five-coordinated with fou…
Construction of Coordination Polymers from Semirigid Ditopic 2,2′-Biimidazole Derivatives: Synthesis, Crystal Structures, and Characterization
2017
Eight coordination polymers (CPs), {[Ag(L1)]ClO4}n (1), {[Ag(L2)1.5]ClO4·C2H3N}n (2a), {[Ag(L2)]ClO4}n (2b), [Zn(L1)Cl2]n (3), {[Zn(L2)Cl2]·CHCl3}n (4), {[Cu(L1)2Cl]Cl·H2O}n (5), [Cu2(L2)(μ-Cl)2]n (6), and [Cu4(L2)(μ-Cl)4]n (7) were synthesized via self-assembly of corresponding metal ions and biimidazole based ditopic ligands, 1,1′-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)-2,2′-biimidazole L1 and 1,1′-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)-2,2′-biimidazole L2. These ligands possess conformational flexibility and two pairs of coordination sites: pyridine nitrogen (NPy) atoms and imidazole nitrogen (NIm) atoms. Depending on the metal center in CPs, the biimidazole compounds act as tetra- (1, 7), tri- (2a), or bidentate (2a,…
A new flow cell design for chemiluminiscence analysis.
2001
The present study proposes a new flow cell called a bundle cell for chemiluminescence analysis. The results obtained were compared with those achieved by manual and automated batch procedures and flow manifolds with different cells: an common quartz flow cell, a helix cell and the most used spiral cell. Figures of merit such as limit of detection, sensitivity, accuracy and precision for the Cr(III) determination were established with light emission produced by catalysed Cr(III) luminol oxidation by hydrogen peroxide in a basic aqueous solution. An improvement in sensitivity about 50% as compared with the spiral cell and even larger with respect to the other flow cells tested was observed. T…
On-line analysis of carbonyl compounds with derivatization in aqueous extracts of atmospheric particulate PM10 by in-tube solid-phase microextraction…
2011
Abstract A new device for carbonyl compounds based on coupling on-line and miniaturizing both, sample pretreatment and chromatographic separation, is reported. Two capillary columns, a GC capillary column (95% methyl–5% phenyl substituted backbone, 70 cm × 0.32 mm i.d., 3 μm film thickness) in the injection valve for in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) and a Zorbax SB C18 (150 mm × 0.5 mm i.d., 5 μm particle diameter) LC capillary column were employed. Different combinations of IT-SPME and derivatization using 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) were examined for mixtures containing 15 carbonyl compounds (aliphatic, aromatic and unsaturated aldehydes and ketones). A screening analys…
Determination of Phenol by Preconcentration‐Direct Chemiluminescence in a FIA Assembly
2005
Abstract The determination of phenol in water samples is proposed with the aid of a flow‐injection system. The analytical procedure is based on the direct chemiluminometric emission by oxidation of the analyte with potassium permanganate in acidic medium. The flow assembly is provided with a solid‐phase reactor filled with a resin type XAD‐4 for analyte preconcentration. A large study of potential interferences, namely, amino acids reaching water through degradation of organic matter; metals and inorganic metal ions typically present in water interfering with the CL emission of the parent compound, was performed. The calibration graph was linear over the phenol concentration range 1.0–20.0 …
Simultaneous determination of oxybenzone and 2-ethylhexyl 4-methoxycinnamate in sunscreen formulations by flow injection-isodifferential derivative u…
2001
Abstract A flow injection procedure was developed for the simultaneous determination of two UV filters (oxybenzone and 2-ethylhexyl 4-methoxycinnamate) in sunscreen formulations, based on the isodifferential approach. The use of the second derivative spectra allowed a selective determination of the analytes free from matrix interferences and without pretreatment of samples. Standard solutions of the analytes were analyzed by the proposed procedure in order to select the appropriate wavelengths to solve the mixture. After this, the procedure was validated using commercial sunscreen formulations the concentrations of which were determined by an HPLC procedure. The two procedures gave comparab…
Determination of carbonates in waters by on-line vapor generation FTIR
1998
Abstract An electrically heated gas-permeation unit (GPU) has been employed for the vapor-generation Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) determination of total carbonate in waters. The developed method is based on the simultaneous injection of 100 μ l sample and 100 μ l nitric acid in a two-channel manifold with a merging zone, which provides the generation of CO 2 through the GPU, heated at 90°C, from which CO 2 is swept by a stream of N 2 to a long-path infrared gas cell. Absorbance measurements were made in the range from 2500 to 2150 cm −1 and the corresponding flow injection recordings were obtained as a function of time. The areas of these peaks are interpolated in a calibration equatio…
Gas-chromatographic elemental analysis via di(trifluorethyl)dithiocarbamato-chelates
1986
The capillary-gas-chromatographic conditions for the determination of trace metals after extraction from aqueous solution are optimized by coupling of capillaries and improvement of injection technique. Different detectors (FID and ECD) are tested. pH range and buffer systems for extraction of metal chelates are discussed.
Fourier-transform infrared determination of nicotine in tobacco samples by transmittance measurements after leaching with CHCl3
1998
Abstract A new procedure is proposed for the FT-IR spectrometric determination of nicotine in tobacco. The method is based on the extraction of nicotine in CHCl 3 from tobacco samples, wetted with an aqueous solution of NH 3 (0.1 M), and the measurement of absorbance in the stopped-flow mode at 1316 cm −1 , using a spectral baseline correction established from 1334 to 1300 cm −1 . The procedure developed does not requires a complex sample preparation, and provides a limit of detection of 0.045 mg ml −1 nicotine, a sampling frequency of 3.3 h −1 and a coefficient of variation of 0.3% for five independent measurements of a tobacco sample with a nicotine content of 1.5% w/w. The accuracy of th…
