Physiotherapy students’ conceptions of skill at the beginning of their Bachelor studies

Skills have recently received widespread attention in education policy documents and discussions. This article reports the results of research on Bachelor’s degree physiotherapy students’ conceptions of skill at the beginning of their studies. The aim of the present study was to examine how beginning students understand skill, and the focus was on conceptions of skill in general rather than on any particular skills. The participants of the study were 35 physiotherapy students. The data were gathered within the first two weeks of their university studies. Influence of Content Knowledge on Pedagogical Content Knowledge: The case of teaching photosynthesis and plant growth

International audience; Abstract The aim of the research was to investigate the effect of the amount and quality of content knowledge on pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). The biological content photosynthesis and plant growth was used as an example. The research sample consisted of 10 primary and 10 secondary (biology) teacher students. Questionnaires, lesson preparation task and an interview were used to collect data. Primary student teachers' were not aware of students' conceptual difficulties and had problems in choosing the most important content. En el presente estudio se profundiza en el impacto de la crisis sobre el acceso a los estudios superiores, así como en los comportamientos relacionados con la exclusión social que los estudiantes universitarios han realizado o serían capaces de realizar con el único propósito de costearse su educación. This article discusses how students can be more integrated in developing library instruction and what advantages that can provide for librarians planning their teaching. The students seem to have a different starting point as to how important the librarians’ knowledge of the subject at hand is and whether or not library instruction should be an integrated part of the course.
International student mobility in Southern-Latin Europe: beyond the EU logics, towards a new space

This paper discusses international student mobility (ISM) in Southern-Latin Europe, specifically Italy, Portugal, and Spain, analysing the inflow of international students as reflected in the UNESCO, OECD and European Commission databases. Only recently Italy, Portugal and Spain, as latecomers, have become more actively involved in ISM dynamics. This trend has been a response to EU pressures to internationalization, instrumented through the consolidation of the Bologna process and the need to build a common space of higher education. Obiettivo del presente contributo è valutare l’efficacia di un intervento didattico innovativo, basato su evidenze di ricerca, nel migliorare le competenze di problem solving degli studenti degli ultimi due anni di scuola primaria, con particolare riferimento alla tipologia di origine degli stessi. Dopo una breve panoramica sul quadro teorico e sul modello di apprendimento adottato, verrà esplicitata l’impostazione metodologica alla base dell’intervento e saranno descritti i risultati.
