The pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) for teaching mitosis at university isan unexplored field. We report the characterization of university teachers’ PCK on mitosisemploying the Content Representation questionnaire (CoRe) and Professional and Pedagogicalexperience Repertoire (PaP-eR). The differences found in the teachers’ CDC are consistent withthe characteristics of this construct: it is specific to a topic, a teacher and a context. This paper deals with silence in video-based discourse, which includes pauses and delays. The data of the study is provided by international video conferences in which six in-service teachers and six pre-service teachers from three countries (Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary) together with a moderator and an assistent discuss sequences of their lessons. Las respuestas emocionales, cardiovasculares y endocrinas se ven afectadas por la experiencia diaria. La percepción de estrés, el estado de ánimo negativo, la frecuencia cardíaca (FC) y la presión arterial (PA) incrementan en los periodos laborales. Teacher shortages, teacher contracts and their effect on education in Africa

1001; To enhance primary enrolment rates, many African countries have launched large teacher recruitment programmes in recent years. Given tight budgetary constraints, teachers are no longer employed in civil service positions, but on the basis of (fixed term) contracts typically implying considerably lower salaries and a sharply reduced amount of professional training. We analyse the effect of this change on educational quality in Niger, Togo and Mali, on the basis of very informative data, which are comparable across these countries.
