Multi sensor photogrammetric techniques for the documentation of the ruins of Temple G in Selinunte
2022
In the past two decades UAV have been increasingly used for the survey of wide areas. The chosen case study, the huge heap of ruins of the Temple G in Selinunte, demands a higher accuracy than that usually accepted for wide areas survey; nonetheless, the morphology of the ruins makes laser scanning survey inadequate to the purpose of the analysis and interpretation. The proposed methodology integrates SfM photogrammetry from UAV and action camera’s photos. A test on a specific area has evaluated the accuracy of photogrammetric survey through the comparison with laser scanning data.
2013
This research is focused on the virtual reconstruction of the Ionic cornice of temple G of Selinunte, as a case study for the definition of a virtual reconstruction method of collapsed walls elements in archaeological contexts. The complexity of the ruins of the temple suggested a thorough archaeological analysis of the fragments of the Ionic cornice that made it possible to identify traces of the construction process left by stonecutters during the worksite such as unfinished surfaces. The study of these surfaces, together with the dimensional data surveyed, provided the information to reposition the fragments in their supposed original position, and thus develop a virtual reconstruction o…
Tacitus on Titus? Visit to the Temple of Venus at Paphos
2020
This article deals with Titus? visit to the temple of Venus at Paphos in the second book of Tacitus? Historiae. I argue that apart from its other literary intentions already mentioned by scholars, this digression implicitly connects Titus not only with Aeneas but also with Julius Caesar. Titus? affair with Berenice that recalls Caesar?s affair with Cleopatra, Tacitus? allusions to Lucan?s De Bello Civili where Caesar?s visit to the tomb of Alexander the Great is described, the ?????Motiv and fortuna?s favour that characterise both Roman generals, all contribute to connect Titus with Caesar and allow the reader to view a parallel between the Flavian and the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
2020
In the medieval cemetery of the Historic Site of San Juan del Hospital of Valencia is housed a small funeral chapel founded in the late thirteenth century by the knight Arnau de Romaní. Along its cornice there are a series of heads of animals and humans that are one of the few sculptural vestiges inserted into the Romanesque iconographic tradition that are preserved in the city. So far they have not aroused the interest of specialists and no one has dedicated a detailed study to these curious and interesting images located in the marginal spaces of such a beautiful building. This article aims to complete this gap addressing the study of the corbels of the small temple, projecting a thematic…
2021
Small architectures can help to reinstate a daily use of the archaeological park, no longer considered as a specialised fence. The projects feed on iconographic memories that indicate where and how to look at. The comparison between the historical views and the current state shows some changes. Today the contemporary city surrounds the temples, arising among billboards, behind traffic lights. Unlike the postcards' logic where the ruins appear isolated, in the wake of a generic polemic against the recent transformations, the article aims to focus on a new aesthetic where contemporary architecture narrates a dialogue between different parts, offering new paths of approach to the ruins.

Agrigento constitutes one of Italy’s most problematic situations, exhibiting the most striking contrasts: the Valley of the Temples site’s wealth of landscapes and archaeological treasures and a widespread and varied practice of unauthorized building; the beauty and degradation of the city’s historic center besieged by inappropriately tall constructions; the elegance of the 19th century expansion and the growth of abject suburban developments; invasive road works that do not ensure efficient transit. In the sloping area that overlooks the sea, the Valley of the Temples Park is located, an exceptional mix of archaeological treasures and agricultural landscapes, but spoilt in many areas by va…
Agrigento.
Un esperimento d’illuminazione per il Tempio di Hera a Selinunte / An experiment of lighting of Temple of Hera in Selinunte
2010
This contribution to theme on Permanence and innovation in Mediterranean Architecture, investigates a…

The castle's Hermitage of Yecla (Region of Murcia) constituted during the 13th to 16th centuries the first parish of the population, hosting a triptych-shaped altarpiece presided over by a tempera painting on wood of Our Lady of Humility or "Virgo Lactans", dated around 1370 and attributed to the painter Barnaba da Modena, which was the titular image of the mentioned temple under the title of Our Lady of the Incarnation, until at the end of the 18th century it changed ownership for the Conception of Our Lady. The table at averages of the eight hundred was placed in an a loft, appropriating it at the beginning of the 20th century by the retired military Pascual Spuche y Lacy, who sold it aro…
«Men for oss er det én Gud, Faderen» : et kritisk blikk på Richard Bauckhams kristologi
2012
Author's version of an article in the journal: Teologisk Tidsskrift. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.idunn.no/ts/tt/2012/01/art06 The article consists of two parts: Part one seeks to demonstrate (contra Bauckham) that Jewish monotheism in the Second Temple period was of a flexible character. It argues that Jewish writers in this period could attribute «divine functions» to figures beside God, while still feeling committed to «one God». The Jewish monotheism of this period was therefore not constituted by functions or characteristics, but rather by the exclusive worship of the one God. Part two argues that Paul describes Jesus with a high position beside God, while still fee…
