Intégrer des informations en escamots dans les textes techniques : quels effets sur les processus cognitifs ?

Though computerized sytems now offer a wide range of options for accessing and displaying text or text-picture information, little is known about their effects on the user's cognitive processes. In this paper, we investigate the effect of a computer-specific display (pop-up window) which consists in displaying some pieces of information in windows that appear only under user's action. Experiments were carried out to compare the pop-up window device with other devices used on paper. The experiments dealt with text only as well as text-picture documents and involved various tasks. Results are discussed from a theoretical and a practical point of view.

L'age d'or de la sémiotique littéraire, et quelques consequences théoriques

Dans cet article, je voudrais comparer trois livres fondamentaux pour l’analyse sémiotique des œuvres littéraires, parus à quelques années de distance l’un de l’autre : S/Z de Roland Barthes (1970a), Maupassant de Algirdas J. Greimas (1976) et Lector in fabula de Umberto Eco (1979). Il s’agit de trois différentes approches à la sémiotique de la littérature, parues dans la même décennie, qui, par conséquent, ont produit trois différents objets de la discipline, en causant, avec un progrès considérable dans la recherche sur la signification, des équivoques théoriques qui sont encore à résoudre.

The article starts from a conception of language according to which the semiotic units that speakers use do not emanate from individual mental processes but from the socialization of representation instruments which, being individual elements initially, have later been involved in processes of communicative circulation. In the same way that, in each language, verbal uses are limited by a series of restrictions in the constitution of some phonic, lexical or morphosyntactic structures, there are also some other constraints that affect textual genres.
