Caeruleus: significado cromático en la poesía latina del s. I a.C.

En este artículo se estudia el color azul a través de su significante caeruleus y su familia léxica en los poetas latinos del s. I a.C. y, especialmente, en la Eneida, poema en el que adquiere una especial relevancia. Se analiza su etimología, significado y valores; su relación con ?????? del que constituye una traducción. Se concluye que los poetas latinos usan este radical especialmente para el mar y las aguas (ríos, fuentes, tormentas), el cielo o el mundo vegetal, un uso ausente en Homero e infrecuente en la poesía griega.

The translation of dialect is one of the most difficult and yet interesting challenges facing literary translators. Although theoretical contributions about dialect translation develop mainly from 1960, this article proposes a historical reading of the history of translation from antiquity to the first half of the 20th century, inquiring about the “implications” that the milestones of translation might have had on the translation of dialect. Reflections on the role and design of online dictionaries for specialised translation

This article is an updated and modified version of a Spanish article published in MonTi 6 (cf. Tarp 2014a). It deals with specialised translation dictionaries. Based on the principles of the function theory, it analyses the different phases and sub-phases of the translation process from a lexicographical perspective and shows that a translation dictionary should be much more than a mere bilingual dictionary if it really pretends to meet its users’ complex needs. In the present contribution to the History of Translation we consider critically the emergence and integration of Translation Studies as an academic discipline and the role of both Translation History and Translation Historiography. An analysis of what this discipline was before its acceptance into academia and proposals for what its role should be within a humanistic oriented curriculum for future professionals derives from the reception, clearly unsatisfactory, of its status as academic knowledge. Terminología y traducción económica francés-español: evaluación de recursos terminológicos en el ámbito contable

The aim of this paper is to evaluate a series of terminology resources and determine their suitability to the practice of French-Spanish translation of accounting documents. First we identify the terminology needs of a specific group of translator trainees when facing business translation, as well as the resources they use particularly when translating annual accounts. Then, we select various terminology resources used in this context and evaluate them according to their needs. The results suggest the development of a French-Spanish dictionary of accounting terms adapted to the terminology needs of the practice of translation in this area.
