Effects of a 9-month resistance training intervention on quality of life, sense of coherence, and depressive symptoms in older adults: randomized con…
2017
Purpose (1) To determine the effects of a 9-month resistance training intervention on quality of life, sense of coherence, and depressive symptoms in older adults, and (2) to compare effects between different training frequencies. Methods Men and women aged 65–75 (N = 106) were randomized to four groups according to training frequency: training groups RT1 (n = 26), RT2 (n = 27), and RT3 (n = 28) and non-training control group (n = 25). All training groups attended supervised resistance training twice a week for 3 months. For the following 6 months, they continued training with different frequencies (1, 2 or 3 times per week). Psychological functioning was measured by quality of life (WHOQOL…
Resilience as a predictor of Quality of Life in participants with borderline personality disorder before and after treatment.
2021
Abstract Background Studies have suggested that psychotherapy improves the Quality of Life (QoL) of participants with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). However, there are no studies on the differential efficacy of treatments on the QoL of participants with BPD. Moreover, the relationship between QoL and resilience has rarely been studied in participants with BPD. Objectives: a) to examine whether people with BPD have worse QoL than the non-clinical population; b) to examine whether there are statistically significant differences between Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving (STEPPS), or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-Tre…
Rappresentare il patrimonio culturale. Un’esperienza formativa
2019
IL CONTRIBUTO PRESENTA I RISULTATI DI UN’ESPERIENZA FORMATIVA CONDOTTA CON IL FESTIVAL “LE VIE DEI TESORI” NELL’AMBITO DELLA RAPPRESENTAZIONE MULTIMEDIALE PER LA COMUNICAZIONE DEI BENI CULTURALI. IL FESTIVAL APRE OGNI ANNO AL PUBBLICO CENTINAIA DI LUOGHI IN GRAN PARTE CHIUSI. PER ALCUNI DI ESSI GLI ALLIEVI HANNO REALIZZATO PRODOTTI MULTIMEDIALI DESTINATI AL SITO WEB DEL FESTIVAL CHE CONSENTONO L’ESPERIENZA VIRTUALE IN ASSENZA DI QUELLA FISICA. ATTRAVERSO GLI STRUMENTI DELLA RAPPRESENTAZIONE SI COMUNICA IL LUOGO E IL LINGUAGGIO MULTIMEDIALE ADOTTATO RENDE COMPRENSIBILE IL PROCESSO RAPPRESENTATIVO. THE PAPER PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF A TRAINING EXPERIENCE CARRIED OUT WITH THE FESTIVAL “LE VIE D…
Rethinking the role of fat oxidation: substrate utilisation during high-intensity interval training in well-trained and recreationally trained runners
2015
Background Although carbohydrate is the predominant fuel source supporting high-intensity exercise workloads, the role of fat oxidation, and the degree to which it may be altered by training status, is less certain. Methods We compared substrate oxidation rates, using indirect calorimetry, during a high-intensity interval training (HIT) session in well-trained (WT) and recreationally trained (RT) runners. Following preliminary testing, 9 WT (VO2max 71±5 mL/min/kg) and 9 RT (VO2max 55±5 mL/min/kg) male runners performed a self-paced HIT sequence consisting of six, 4 min work bouts separated by 2 min recovery periods on a motorised treadmill set at a 5% gradient. Results WT and RT runners per…

It has been shown that the mental fatigue induced by prolonged self-regulation increases perception of effort and reduces performance during subsequent endurance exercise. However, the physiological mechanisms underlying these negative effects of mental fatigue are unclear. The primary aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that mental fatigue exacerbates central fatigue induced by whole-body endurance exercise. Twelve subjects performed 30 min of either an incongruent Stroop task to induce a condition of mental fatigue or a congruent Stroop task (control condition) in a random and counterbalanced order. Both cognitive tasks (CTs) were followed by a whole-body endurance task (ET) cons…
Riflessività e narrazione autobiografica per una cittadinanza digitale.
2019
Within nowadays information and knowledge society, training paths are exposed to changes due to technological development. These technological hints offer a plurality of communicative tools that endlessly extend the possibility of narrating, talking about oneself, telling oneself and being recognized. In this regard, the present paper deals with Digital Storytelling, with images, music, narration and voice woven together, offering new tools to revisit the narration, intertwining multimedia, interactivity and the web, with traditional practices. All this leads us to consider digital storytelling as a sort of modern version of the ancient art of storytelling (Rule, 2010). The educational chal…
Role of Education and Training on Income in Different Regions of Latvia
2019
Latvia is often critisised by international institutions on rising gap for income differences in several social groups. This current research is devoted to analyse of role of education and training on income level. Research methods used: scientific publications and previous conducted research analysis, analysis of EU-SILC data on differences in income depending from education level, from regions and from territory (urban/rural), interviews of regional authorities on life-long training arrangements and applications in regions with lower income level. Data analysis methods: descriptive statistics (indicators of central tendency or location, indicators of variability), cross-tabulations of hou…
A cardiovascular educational intervention for primary care professionals in Spain: positive impact in a quasi-experimental study
2015
Background Routine general practice data collection can help identify patients at risk of cardiovascular disease. Aim To determine whether a training programme for primary care professionals improves the recording of cardiovascular disease risk factors in electronic health records. Design and setting A quasi-experimental study without random assignment of professionals. This was an educational intervention study, consisting of an online-classroom 1-year training programme, and carried out in the Valencian community in Spain. Method The prevalence rates of recording of cardiovascular factors (recorded every 6 months over a 4-year period) were compared between intervention and control group. …
La qualità della ricerca didattica
2021
Two epistemological presuppositions are made explicit: the source sciences of didactics are psychology and pedagogy; Didactics uses empirical research methods. Two issues are discussed: under what conditions can the results of scientific research in the didactic field be combined? With what degree of certainty do the results of didactic research guide the actions of teachers? Arguments are made for the development of didactic knowledge and for the improvement of the social perception of didactic research in Italy. Deontological considerations for Didactics researchers are commented. Self-critical vigilance is recommended to teaching researchers.
Effect of a 1-year elastic band resistance exercise program on cardiovascular risk profile in postmenopausal women
2018
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of a 1-year progressive resistance training program using elastic bands on cardiovascular profile parameters in sedentary postmenopausal (>12 months’ amenorrhea) women. Methods: This longitudinal prospective experimental study included 38 menopausal women who were randomly divided into two groups: an intervention group (IG, n = 18), who completed a progressive resistance training program with elastic bands over the course of 12 months (six exercises for whole body training, three sets × 10 repetitions), and a control group (CG, n = 20) that did not perform any training. Blood analysis and body composition were determined at bas…
