Zur numerischen Lösung gewöhnlicher Differential-gleichungen mit Splines in einem Sonderfall
1980
In an earlier paper [1] a general procedure has been presented to obtain polynomial spline approximations for the solution of the initial value problem for ordinary differential equations. In this paper the general procedure is described by an equivalent one step method. Furthermore two convergence theorems are proved for a special case which is not included in the general convergence or divergence theory given in [1].
Transferencia valor-experiencia a través del patrocinio deportivo : antecedentes y consecuencias
2021
This study proposes a general model for sports sponsorship which takes as its central concept the transfe…
Determination of anti GAD65 autoantibodies with an ELISA before and after standardization with the new international reference serum
2009
The serum of a stiff-man syndrome patient was declared international GAD reference standard at the "1st GAD Antibody Workshop" held at the "12th International Immunology and Diabetes Workshop" in Orlando, Florida, USA 1993. A comparative study was performed with 123 diabetic and non-diabetic patients to evaluate whether standardization of this reference serum had changed the properties of a commercially available ELISA assay. All samples classified positive with the old test were confirmed with the new assay. Four additional samples with high "normal" values became positive with the new test. One of them was a control person having a family history of diabetes and genetic loci DR4/DR11. The…
Use of Logistic Regression for Prediction of the Fate of Staphylococcus aureus in Pasteurized Milk in the Presence of Two Lytic Phages
2010
The use of bacteriophages provides an attractive approach to the fight against food-borne pathogenic bacteria, since they can be found in different environments and are unable to infect humans, both characteristics of which support their use as biocontrol agents. Two lytic bacteriophages, vB_SauS-phiIPLA35 (phiIPLA35) and vB_SauS-phiIPLA88 (phiIPLA88), previously isolated from the dairy environment inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. To facilitate the successful application of both bacteriophages as biocontrol agents, probabilistic models for predicting S. aureus inactivation by the phages in pasteurized milk were developed. A linear logistic regression procedure was used to desc…
Solving some optimal control problems using the barrier penalty function method
2005
In this paper we present a new approach to solve the two-level optimization problem arising from an approximation by means of the finite element method of optimal control problems governed by unilateral boundary value problems. The minimized functional depends on control variables and state variables x. The latter are the optimal solution of an auxiliary quadratic programming problem, whose parameters depend on u.
Economic values for production and functional traits in Valle del Belice dairy sheep using profit functions
2011
Abstract A deterministic static model was used to estimate the economic values (EV) of production (MY, milk yield; BW, birth weight; and ADG, average daily gain) and functional traits (ASR, adult survival rate; LSR, lamb survival rate; FE, fertility; PR, prolificacy; and LW ewe , mature weight of ewe) in Valle del Belice dairy sheep. In this study, values for the biological parameters and the production traits used in the model were taken from real data, by surveying 15 Valle del Belice farmers and reflected the production circumstances of pasture based dairy production systems. In this system feed cost accounted for 95% of total variable costs, whereas fixed costs were low and reflected tr…
Power-law relaxation in a complex system: Omori law after a financial market crash
2003
We study the relaxation dynamics of a financial market just after the occurrence of a crash by investigating the number of times the absolute value of an index return is exceeding a given threshold value. We show that the empirical observation of a power law evolution of the number of events exceeding the selected threshold (a behavior known as the Omori law in geophysics) is consistent with the simultaneous occurrence of (i) a return probability density function characterized by a power law asymptotic behavior and (ii) a power law relaxation decay of its typical scale. Our empirical observation cannot be explained within the framework of simple and widespread stochastic volatility models.
Noise-enhanced stability of periodically driven metastable states
2000
We study the effect of noise-enhanced stability of periodically driven metastable states in a system described by piecewise linear potential. We find that the growing of the average escape time with the intensity of the noise is depending on the initial condition of the system. We analytically obtain the condition for the noise enhanced stability effect and verify it by numerical simulations.
Quantum dissipative dynamics of a bistable system in the sub-Ohmic to super-Ohmic regime
2016
We investigate the quantum dynamics of a multilevel bistable system coupled to a bosonic heat bath beyond the perturbative regime. We consider different spectral densities of the bath, in the transition from sub-Ohmic to super-Ohmic dissipation, and different cutoff frequencies. The study is carried out by using the real-time path integral approach of the Feynman-Vernon influence functional. We find that, in the crossover dynamical regime characterized by damped \emph{intrawell} oscillations and incoherent tunneling, the short time behavior and the time scales of the relaxation starting from a nonequilibrium initial condition depend nontrivially on the spectral properties of the heat bath.
Robust dynamic cooperative games
2009
Classical cooperative game theory is no longer a suitable tool for those situations where the values of coalitions are not known with certainty. Recent works address situations where the values of coalitions are modelled by random variables. In this work we still consider the values of coalitions as uncertain, but model them as unknown but bounded disturbances. We do not focus on solving a specific game, but rather consider a family of games described by a polyhedron: each point in the polyhedron is a vector of coalitions’ values and corresponds to a specific game. We consider a dynamic context where while we know with certainty the average value of each coalition on the long run, at each t…
