Mucilage-Based and Calcium Ascorbate Edible Coatings Improve Postharvest Quality and Storability of Minimally Processed Cactus Pear Fruit Stored unde…
2022
The minimally processed fruit and vegetable industry showed rapid growth worldwide, primarily due to the increasing consumer need for ready-to-eat fresh products characterized by high nutritional, sensory and healthy value. The postharvest life of peeled cactus pear fruits is relatively short, due to the processing operations that affect fruit integrity and cause metabolic disfunctions, as well as pulp browning, microbial growth, loss of firmness, off-flavor development, and nutraceutical value loss. In this study, we investigated the effects of mucilage-based (OFI) and calcium ascorbate edible coating on minimally processed cactus pear summer-ripening fruit, cold stored under passive atmos…
Aiap Women in Design Award (AWDA) : Short History and Perspectives
2020
The biennial award organized by Aiap (the Italian Associa- tion of Visual Communication Design) intends to investigate the languages, poetics and different approaches to commu- nication design and explore the conditions in which women designers work. Not to examine a protected area or search for peculiarities characterizing women’s design methodol- ogy (Ferrara, 2018). Nevertheless, to act as a place whence to observe a partly hidden dimension, to use single projects to bring to light the wide-ranging, diverse world of women communication designers (Piscitelli, 2015). The award intends to emphasize the role that women graphic designers have or had in the professional and educational areas, …
2021
This discussion tries to investigate the theme of the "web amnesia" in relation to the website project of cultural institutions. More precisely, the reflection is inspired by a "rereading" of a research experience gained within the University of Palermo through the drafting of a doctoral thesis entitled "The web for culture. From digital identity to the design of online services” which had as its objective the mapping of the websites of museums or cultural institutions in relation to quality criteria, operational indications, design guidelines and, in general, to all the issues of the sectoral scientific debate of the early 2000s. Today, thanks to this possible reinterpretation, this resear…
SALVATORE GREGORIETTI : IL MESTIERE DEL GRAFICO
2021

Carlo Scarpa a Palermo
2018
Carlo Scarpa a palazzo Abatellis passando dallo Steri.
The interpretation of prehistoric visual expression in indoor museums
2011
Representing Prehistory in museums, with all the contradictions that the term “representation” may imply, is always very controversial from the interpretative point of view, implicating a series of different philosophical and scientific positions, both on Prehistory itself, and on the way of introducing it to the public, particularly today with the resurfacing of the need to dedicate some attention also to the social and the so-called “immaterial” contexts, to the myths, the rites, the cults, to the interpretation of life and nature, overcoming the obsolete concept of the museums exposing manufactured articles. In the long decontestualization process of the objects involving, unfortunately,…
Redrawing the Past, reimaiging the Future. Gamification project for the reinterpretation of historical architecture
2021
The objectives of the work we present concern the reinterpretation of architectural traces of the past with a "gamification" project for educational laboratories to be activated in schools of different order and grade. The methodology used starts from the 3D-reconstruction of disappeared architectures, urban plots where the stratification lends itself to different interpretations, based on the documentary information found and the hypotheses that can be spent directly from reading the artefact. Then it translates everything into diversified outputs to tell the evolution of the monument and the site and its conjectural reconfiguration: from immersive 3D visualization to 3D printing of modula…
Gli ambienti digitali nelle arti performative
2018
2018
What we propose is an investigation along the perimeter circuit of the primitive city walls of Palermo, the so-called "Cassaro" or "Phoenician Foot". It is the oldest urban fortification in the city, maintained until the Islamic domination; in the IX-X century the Muslims operated the first external expansion, endowing the new quarters with a second boundary line, lighter but wider than the previous one. This second route was strengthened by the Normans and then reinforced, reshaped and bastioned in the sixteenth century: it is the perimeter that defines and identifies the Historic Center of Palermo even today, even if the circuit is legible only for pieces and only a few bastions, on the w…
