Wireless Sensor Networks constitute a recent technology where the nodes cooperate to obtain, in a totally distributed way, certain function of the sensed data. One example is the average consensus algorithm, which allows every node to converge to the global average. However, this algorithm presents two major drawbacks in practice. The first one is that instantaneous symmetric links are required, which are hard to ensure in practice because of the presence of wireless interferences. WIDAR: Bistatic WI-fi Detection And Ranging for off-the-shelf devices

The huge spread of wireless networks and the success of location-aware applications require novel indoor po- sitioning mechanisms based on existing technologies such as IEEE 802.11. Taking inspiration from the RADAR, we propose WIDAR: a bistatic WI-fi Detection And Ranging system for off- the-shelf devices. WIDAR implementation is based on the USRP2 platform and is able to locate 802.11 stations while they operate in existing legacy networks. No substitution or repositioning of the Access Points is necessary. WIDAR works passively and does not expect any dedicated action from the target WiFi node. Wireless mesh networks appear a promising solution for pro- viding ubiquitous low-cost wireless access, but cannot rely on simple CSMA access protocols because of the critical inefficiencies that arise in topologies with hidden nodes. To overcome these limitations, some important protocol extensions based on synchronization and reservation mechanisms have been ratified. In this paper we show that an alternative approach to the standardiza- tion of new features and signaling messages for mesh networks can be the utilization of programmable nodes able to execute different MAC protocols programmed on the fly. On building an infrastructure for mobile and wireless systems

Over the last few years, there have been at least two dramatic changes in the way computers are used. The first has its origin in the fact that computers have become more and more connected to each other. The second was triggered by the increasing miniaturization and affordability of hardware components and power supplies, together with the development of wireless communication paths. These two trends combined have allowed the development of powerful, yet comparatively low-priced, portable computers. In spite of these changes, little attention has been given to reaching a common consensus and to the development of a strong infrastructure in this area.
Wireless power transfer system stability analysis for E-bikes application

The present work reports the stability analysis of an Inductive Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT) System coupled to an electrical bike. The study has focused on two coupled coils with circular geometry and vertical disposition. In the first part of the work, the theoretical aspects related to the stability of wireless power systems are handled. In the second part, performing several simulations, varying the features of the considered configuration, the stability is looked for. In order to perform this process, the Ansys Maxwell software has been used, performing 3D simulations.
An Inter-Technology Communication Scheme for WiFi/ZigBee Coexisting Networks

In this paper we show how inter-technology interference can be exploited to set-up a low-rate bi-directional communication channel between heterogeneous technologies, which coexist in ISM bands. In particular, we focus on WiFi and ZigBee networks, whose high density deployments make coexistence a critical issue. We monitor the transmission duration of the interference and, after recognizing ZigBee interference from WiFi off-the-shelf receivers, we precisely measure the channel busy intervals to map time duration to communication symbols.
