Influenza vaccination among healthcare workers and absenteeism from work due to influenza-like illness in a teaching hospital in Palermo

<p><strong>Background</strong>: Annual flu vaccination of healthcare workers (HCWs) is recommended worldwide as the best way to prevent influenza and to avoid its transmission. However, in several European Countries, vaccination rate among HCWs is still less than 25%. The aim of this study was to determine the HCW vaccination coverage during a three year period in a large University Hospital, identifying socio demographic and occupational variables involved in the decision to accept influenza vaccination. Understanding Interaction Search Behavior in Professional Social Networks

We present an empirical study of social interaction in a professional social network. As the point of departure, we take previous research into distributed work and information foraging theory to explore interaction search behavior of individuals active in professional networks, examining how social factors govern their behavior. For this exploration, we focused on the process through which relevant collaborators are chosen to execute shared work tasks in the area of logistics, and identified six characteristics of the explored processes. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, millaisia työn intensifikaation eli työn kiihtymisen profiileja voidaan tunnistaa johtajilla ja miten eri profiilien johtajat eroavat toisistaan työhyvinvoinnin ja työnkuvan vaihtoajatusten suhteen. Kyselytutkimuksen otos poimittiin Professoriliiton, Tieteentekijöiden liiton, Suomen Ekonomien ja Tekniikan Akateemisten jäsenrekistereistä.
