Richard Bradley - étude de quelques illustrations pré-évolutionnistes

Richard Bradley (1688-1732) is an English botanist more particularly known for his books on gardening and exotic plants. He published in 1721 a treatise entitled A Philosophical Account of the Works of Nature, in which he offers the reader a complete and systematic description of the natural world organized in the best way by a benevolent God according to the principle of the Great Chain of Being. He discovers plenty of evidence of a divine order via the use of the microscope and the recent discoveries on plant sexual reproduction. However, a study of some of the illustrations reveals some doubts about the Great Chain of Being, notably regarding the place of man within nature.

This dissertation analyzes the concept of well-being in the writings of George Eliot in order to account for the question of the individual in his/her relationships with the other and others such as animals and the environment so as to obtain physical, moral as well as personal and social well-being along the resulting ethics and aesthetics. For the novelist, well-being finds its source in the individuals’ suffering in British nineteenth-century society. Conceiving well-being from Eliot’s point of view therefore means giving priority to individual relationships and interactions. National audience; Ce texte tente de montrer, à partir d’une lecture de la conférence « L’homme et l’adversité » que Merleau-Ponty a professée en 1951, quelques signes du tournant de la pensée du philosophe à cette époque. La notion d’adversité exprime non seulement l’être-au-monde de l’homme, mais aussi implique une autre compréhension merleau-pontienne sur le problème de l’homme et du monde que celle de la Phénoménologie de la perception.

How do we exist in the world? And how to settle down effectively in one language or another language? This article is largely based on reflections of the book Linguistics, cognition and didactics. Principles and exercises of linguistic-didactic, masterpiece of linguist Samir Bajrić. In this text, we are mainly interested in cognition, language, and the appropriation of a language or another language, and in which we conduct a cognitive, linguistic and philosophical research on the human being and on the speaker-being while taking advantage of linguistic neoteny. The languages analyzed in this text are mainly French and Mandarin.
