Toxic mineral elements in Mytilus galloprovincialis from Sicilian coasts (Southern Italy)

We assessed the relationship between V, Cr, Mn, Hg, As, Cd, Sn, Sb and Pb concentrations in Mytilus galloprovincialis samples from the coasts of Sicily and the expression of metallothioneins. Toxic mineral elements assessment was carried out by A.A. Spectrometry and ICP-MS. The metallothioneins expression was performed by q-PCR method. Low metals' levels were found in the mussel samples examined, in comparison with what was reported in literature. The highest mean values of toxic mineral elements were found in Gela (Cr 0.178 +/- 0.03 mg/Kg, Mn 4.325 +/- 0.012 mg/Kg, As 3.706 +/- 0.009 mg/Kg, Sn 0.148 +/- 0.014 mg/Kg, Sb 0.009 +/- 0.004 mg/Kg e Pb 0.364 +/- 0.01 mg/Kg). A collection of nine Myrtus communis samples from different localities of Sicily was evaluated. Morphological traits and production characteristics have been chosen as parameters to arrange the samples into homogeneous groups and to identify the best biotypes for possible future agro-industrial exploitation. International audience; Neurotensin receptor 1 (NTSR1) is overexpressed in most human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas. It makes it an attractive target for the development of pancreatic cancer imaging agents. In this study, we sought to develop a bimodal PET-fluorescent imaging agent capable of specifically targeting these receptors. Synthesis, characterization and X-ray structure of heterocyclic systems prepared via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides with benzimidazolone

Abstract We report here a one-step synthesis of the new isoxazolyl-benzimidazolones and isoxazolinyl-benzimidazolones by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of the p-substituted benzonitrile oxides and mesitonitrile oxide with 1-cyclohex-1-en-1-yl-3-propargyl-benzimidazolone or 1-cyclohex-1-en-1-yl-3-allyl-benzimidazolone. In all cases these cycloadditions are completely regio- and chemoselective. The structures of new cycloadducts obtained are elucidated by their analytical and spectral data. The relative stereochemistry of the cycloadduct 8 was confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis.

Improved radiosynthesis and preliminary in vivo evaluation of the 11C-labeled tetrazine [11C]AE-1 for pretargeted PET imaging

Pretargeted nuclear imaging based on the ligation between tetrazines and nano-sized targeting agents functionalized with trans-cyclooctene (TCO) has recently been shown to improve both imaging contrast and dosimetry in nuclear imaging of nanomedicines. Effect of storage on quality parameters and phenolic content of Italian extra-virgin olive oils

The quality of extra virgin olive oils is affected mainly by hydrolytic and oxidative reactions. The present paper investigated the changes of major and minor components and oxidation indices of three monovarietal extra virgin olive oils after 18 months of storage at room temperature and in dark glass bottles conditions.
