Un “ chef d’orchestre” ? Le PSU en mai-juin 1968
2019
Cultural Politics of Love and Provision among Poor Youth in Urban Tanzania
2015
This article examines how urban youth in the poorest neighbourhoods of Dar es Salaam negotiate the terms of transactional intimacy, that is, heterosexual relations in which men are expected to provide for women materially. Using the concept of ‘affect’, I argue that this negotiation involves different levels of male providership, as well as moral values attached to notions of ‘true love’ and the Swahili concept of tamaa. Poor men and women view their agency differently within transactional intimacy, with women describing themselves as exploited by men who do not fulfil their end of the transactional bargain, and poor men portraying themselves as deeply disempowered in comparison to wealthie…
The Recurrent Characteristics of Historic Buildings as a Support to Improve their Energy Performances: The Case Study of Palermo
2017
Abstract The analysis of the recurrent characteristics of the local historic architecture is useful to develop large-scale energy analyses, regulations and financial strategies, but also to support technical guidelines for an energy improvement balanced with conservation. For this purpose, a multi-scale methodology ranging from envelope components to the urban dimension is necessary. In the research here exposed, this approach is investigated by focusing on the historic architecture of Palermo. For this heritage, the collection of thermal and hygrometric data for envelope components is combined with the examination of representative constructions, based on building stock categorization. Int…

Pourquoi la science économique redécouvre les activités d'éducation ?
1993
The high level in public deficit and the preeminence of supply side ideas in the economic thought converge for introducing a debate on educational financing. The aim of education activities is also more and more confronted with the rise of youth unemployment. But on the other side, the challenge for a nation to participate in the new global economy emphasizes the place of human capital and the correlation between competitiveness, and the distribution of general knowledge in the population. This text deals first with some factual elements. On one hand, it provides a comparative approach among rich nations, on the other hand, it deals with a historical approach of the French case. In a second…
