Use of long acting injectable aripiprazole before and through pregnancy in bipolar disorder: a case report

2019

Abstract Background Long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics for psychotic disorders provide advantages in treatment compliance, but data on their use in pregnancy are very limited. We present a clinical case of aripiprazole LAI use in pregnancy. Case presentation A 43-year-old woman diagnosed with bipolar disorder, with several relapses due to treatment interruption while trying to conceive. Finally, aripiprazole LAI treatment was planned by mutual agreement between doctor and the patient, who took aripiprazole LAI before and during pregnancy. She gave birth at 40 weeks to a 3500 g baby girl with no congenital malformations, who was healthy at 5 months after delivery. Conclusion As far …

Tin(IV) catalyzed D-galacturonic acid anomerization

2008

A comparative kinetic study of anomerization between the four main forms (alpha/beta-pyranosides and alpha/beta-furanosides) of D-galacturonic acid (GalAH(2), 1) and tin(IV) complexed D-galacturonate ([Sn(CH(3))(2)(GalA)(H(2)O)(2)], 2) in D(2)O, is reported. Important differences are shown by pD vs. mutarotation rate profiles of 1 and 2. Coordination, in fact, causes: i) a spectacular increase of the rate due to kinetic template assistance of the carboxylic tail holding the metal in close proximity to the reactive centre and ii) a change in the dependence of the rate on the pD. Entropic and enthalpic factors contribute to the huge activation energy decrease in 2. Anomerization rates of the …

Gluten-free flours from cereals, pseudocereals and legumes: Phenolic fingerprints and in vitro antioxidant properties.

2018

The interest in gluten-free (GF) products increases together with the increase in gluten-sensitive people. However, GF foods might have decreased nutritional quality as compared to the gluten containing counterparts. In this work, an investigation of the phenolic and antioxidant profile in 18 GF flours belonging to legumes, cereals and pseudocereals was achieved. Significant differences could be observed across samples. Total phenolic content was highest in violet rice flours, whereas total anthocyanins were highest in violet, nerone, and black rice flours. FRAP and ORAC antioxidant activities were correlated to phenolic contents and found to be higher in violet rice flours. Metabolomics hi…

Green sulphur bacteria as a component of the photosynthetic plankton community in small dimictic humic lakes with an anoxic hypolimnion

2013

High bacteriochlorophyll (BChl) concentrations in the anoxic water layers of some humic lakes have indicated that green sulphur bacteria (GSB) may be ecologically significant. The abundance and spatial distribution of GSB were therefore addressed in 13 small humic lakes using fragment analysis and sequencing of PCR-amplified 16S rRNA genes. GSB were detected from lakes where the photosynthetically active radiation was at least 1.1 µE m 2 s 1 at the oxic anoxic boundary layer. In these lakes, 13 to 42% of the 16S rRNA gene sequences of the anoxic water column were assigned to GSB. The spatial distribution of GSB was tightly correlated with the spectrophotometrically measured BChl concentr…

The interpretation of Bach's gamba sonata BWV 1029 on the cello

2006

Masteroppgave i utøvende musikk 2006 - Høgskolen i Agder, Kristiansand The interpretation of Bach’s gamba sonata BWV 1029 on the cello deals with the interpretation of gamba sonatas on the cello from the modern perspective. It is written in the English language by Ana Marinkovic and it is 55 pages long. It is a master thesis from the Agder University College, the Conservatory of Music in Kristiansand Norway, the classical department. Key words in my thesis are: Baroque style, analysis, interpretation, gamba and cello. I am trying to explore the historical interpretation of Baroque music, through the sonata BWV1029 which was written in that period by Johan Sebastian Bach (1685- 1750). Accord…

Responses of microbial food web to increased allochthonous DOM in an oligotrophic subarctic lake

2013

Climate-induced changes in catchment area vegetation and runoff alter the quality and quantity of carbon that enters lakes, with implications for food webs in recipient water bodies. The effect of dissolved organic matter (DOM) on the ratio between heterotrophic and autotrophic biomass and productivity was studied in a subarctic, clear water lake in northern Finland. In a mesocosm experiment, natural DOM from a subarctic bog and a boreal lake was added to the lake water, doubling the initial dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration. Optical indices sug- gested that the subarctic DOM addition was more bioavailable, which was in line with the greater increase in bacterial biomass and prod…

Why do People Attend Sport Events at Mature Tourist Destinations? An Analysis of Visitors’ Motivation to Attend the Windsurf World Cup on Sylt

2016

Abstract Introduction. Sport events have become a popular tool for the marketing of tourist destinations. In this regard, it has to be kept in mind that the effects events can generate for destinations largely depend on the motivation of the attendees. Building on this insight, the aim of this paper is to compare the motivational structures of two types of visitors (primary purpose event visitors and casual visitors) to the German island of Sylt during a Windsurf World Cup. This event-destination combination was chosen because it represents the tendency for popular tourist resorts to use small-scale sport events in their marketing efforts. Material and methods. The research was conducted us…
