Beyond the screen

2021

Our didactic experiences in the field of architectural design, in courses that have always had a strong workshop character, have been varied in recent years and have been carried out in different variants that, when considered as a whole, allow us to reflect on the problems and the challenges faced during the pandemic. Indeed, a didactic normally conducted with compulsory attendance suffered in a sudden and unexpected way from the cancellation of physical presence, the loss of contact with people and the “corporeality” of the project. Moreover, the absence of the physical space of the classroom (a scene inherent to the laboratory) soon led to the search for new tools and appropriate methods…

B4R Branding4Resilience. Tourist infrastructure as a tool to enhance small villages by drawing resilient communities and new open habitats

2021

“Marginal” areas are a central issue that is being discussed all over Europe. Indeed, more than 60% of the European population live in peripheral contexts outside of main urban conurbations (Data “EUROSTAT regional yearbook 2013”. Data referred to the sum of the population in ‘intermediate regions’ and in ‘rural areas’ in the EU27). Yet, the contexts addressed by the Italian National Strategy on Inner Areas (covering approximately the 60 per cent of Italy and hosting nearly 13.540 million people) are often lacking successful regional policies and systemic territorial approaches to achieve effective transformations. In order to tackle with such fragile areas, a new development path has to be…

LGBTIQ+ break-up assemblages : At the end of the rainbow

2020

This article explores Finnish LGBTIQ+ people’s break-ups. The long battle for equal rights has placed LGBTIQ+ people’s relationships under pressure to succeed. Previous studies argue that partners in LGBTIQ+ relationships try to appear as ordinary and happy as possible, and remain silent about the challenges they face in their relationships. Consequently, they may miss out on opportunities to receive institutional and familial support. This study aims to move beyond recurrent frameworks that take the similarity or difference between LGBTIQ+ relationships/break-ups and mixed-sex relationships as a predefined point of departure. The analysis draws on ethnographic observations of relationship …

OP0205 Gut Dysbiosis in Patients with HLA-B27+ Ankylosing Spondylitis is Associated with Ileitis, Down-Regulation of Tight Junction Proteins, Increas…

2015

Background Intestinal dysbiosis has been recently demonstrated in the inflamed ileum of AS patients. Objectives To study the ileal localization of bacteria in AS patients and their relationship with local and systemic immune responses. Methods Consecutive gut biopsies obtained from 30 HLA-B27 + AS patients and 20 normal subjects were histologically classified in normal histology, acute inflammation and chronic inflammation. Giemsa and Silver stains were used to visualize bacteria and characterize their morphology. Intestinal bacteria were scored on the basis of the numbers of bacteria and their aggregation in clusters. The ileal expression and tissue distribution of claudin-2 and 4, Zonulin…
