Yliopistojen sisällä käydään keskustelua humboltilaisen sivistysyliopistoihanteen ja muuttuneiden yhteiskuntasuhteiden yhteensopivuudesta. Haastajiksi ovat nousseet työvoimakompetenssit. Artikkelin kirjoittajat erottavat tutkimissaan korkeakouluissa kolme työelämäntaitojen kehittämisen mallia, jotka he nimeävät spesialistimalliksi, integratiiviseksi malliksi ja verkostoituneen kulttuurin malliksi.

Tutkielmassa selvitetään työväenlehdistön suhtautumista vallankumousvuosien 1917 – 1918 tapahtumiin: kuinka lehdet rakensivat työväen (sosialistien) vastakkaisuutta suhteessa porvareihin. Kyse oli toiseuden eli kollektiivisen luokkataisteluminän tuottamisesta oman toiminnan legitimoimiseksi ja vastustajan toiminnan demonisoimiseksi retorisin keinoin. Lisäksi tutkitaan työväenlehdissä esiintyneitä linjaeroja. Ajallisesti tutkielma rajataan Venäjän helmikuun vallankumouksesta Suomen sisällissodan päättymiseen. Constant sign and nodal solutions for parametric anisotropic $(p, 2)$-equations

We consider an anisotropic ▫$(p, 2)$▫-equation, with a parametric and superlinear reaction term.Weshow that for all small values of the parameter the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions, four with constant sign and the fifth nodal (sign-changing). Analyses of udder health in Valle del Belice dairy sheep using SCC

Intramammary infections (IMI) are a complex of inflammatory diseases of the mammary gland. Mastitis is one of the most frequent IMI affecting small dairy ruminants. Direct selection against clinical mastitis is difficult because mastitis in not widely recorded; therefore, somatic cell count (SCC) is promoted as selection criterion for mastitis resistance. A dataset containing 2,457 first- lactation Valle del Belice ewes from 14 flocks recorded from 1998 to 2003 was analysed. In total 116 sires with at least four daughters with a record were included in the pedigree file. Test-day IMI events were coded as a binary trait using a SCC cut-off value of 750,000 cells/ml. The prevalence of myopia has markedly increased in East and Southeast Asia, and pathologic consequences of myopia, including myopic maculopathy and high myopia-associated optic neuropathy, are now some of the most common causes of irreversible blindness. Hence, strategies are warranted to reduce the prevalence of myopia and the progression to high myopia because this is the main modifiable risk factor for pathologic myopia. On the basis of published population-based and interventional studies, an important strategy to reduce the development of myopia is encouraging schoolchildren to spend more time outdoors.
