Muscle metabolism, blood lactate and oxygen uptake in steady state exercise at aerobic and anaerobic thresholds

Muscle metabolites and blood lactate concentration were studied in five male subjects during five constant-load cycling exercises. The power outputs were below, equal to and above aerobic (AerT) and anaerobic (AnT) threshold as determined during an incremental leg cycling test. At AerT, muscle lactate had increased significantly (p less than 0.05) from the rest value of 2.31 to 5.56 mmol X kg-1 wet wt. This was accompanied by a significant reduction in CP by 28% (p less than 0.05), whereas only a minor change (9%) was observed for ATP. This study investigated whether the specific motor control strategy reported for eccentric muscle actions is dependent on muscle mechanical behavior. Motor evoked potentials, Hoffman reflex (H-reflex), fascicle length, pennation angle, and fascicle velocity of soleus muscle were compared between isometric and two eccentric conditions. BACKGROUND: Padel (called paddle in North America) is a relatively new racquet sport, with steady participation increases over the past 50 years. Factor analysis and reliability of the Movement Imagery Questionnaire.

The purpose of this work was to analyze the factor structure, estimate reliability of the Movement Imagery Questionnaire of Hall and Pongrac, and examine differences between men and women on factor scores. The results for 63 men and 47 women supported the bifactorial structure and reliability of this self-report and its adequacy in comparisons of visual and kinesthetic imagery scores.

International audience; The present study utilized high-impact supra-maximal landings to examine the influence of the pre-impact force level on the post-impact electromyographic (EMG) activity and, in particular, on the short latency EMG reflex (SLR) component. Unilateral-leg landings were performed in a sitting position on a sledge apparatus after release from high, but individually constant dropping height. Complex radial head and neck fractures treated with modern locking plate fixation

Background Internal fixation of complex radial head and neck (CRHN) fractures is difficult, and postoperative complications are common. This study evaluated elbow function and patient clinical status after internal fixation of CRHN fractures with modern locking plates. Methods We included 40 patients with 41 fractures (1 bilateral lesion). In 25 patients (61%), a concomitant injury was found. Patients were an average age of 46 years (range, 22-70 years).
