Design of a Smart Car Park with PV generation and BESS for Grid-on and Grid-off Operation. The SMARTEP Project

The paper presents the design state of a smart car park shelter for electric vehicle in the campus of the University of Palermo. The car park is supplied by the main grid and by a 40 kW photovoltaic system and is equipped with a Li-ion battery storage system with capacity 42 kWh. The hybrid plant is designed in order to operate both in connection with the main grid and in stand-alone mode, supplying, in this case, all car park's loads and providing one recharge to an electric vehicle. Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction represents one of the most common procedures in orthopedic surgery. It usually involves the harvest of both gracilis and semitendinosus tendons from the ipsilateral knee. Different methods of hamstring graft preparation have been proposed in recent years, to create an adequate graft diameter reducing morbidity linked to gracilis tendon harvesting procedure. Resumen En buena parte de los 17 objetivos de desarrollo sostenible marcados como metas de la humanidad por la ONU se deja entrever la sostenibilidad. Debido al modelo socioproductivo dominante, el único modo de avanzar hacia territorios más sostenibles que permitan alcanzar y mantener el bienestar de la población mundial, es tener presente la necesidad de planificar adecuadamente el desarrollo territorial. Este trabajo reflexiona sobre esta necesidad y avanza en la definición de los principales criterios para alcanzar la sostenibilidad territorial en las escalas regionales y locales.

Information Integration, Coordination Failures, and Quality of Prescribing

Poor information flows hamper coordination, potentially leading to suboptimal decisions in health care. We examine the effects of a nationwide policy of information integration on the quality of prescribing. We use the rollout of an electronic prescribing system in Finland and prescription-level administrative data. We find no effect on the probability of co-prescribing harmful drug combinations in urban regions. In rural regions, this probability reduces substantially, by 35 percent. The effect is driven by prescriptions from unspecialized physicians and from multiple physicians. Thoracic aorta shows various changes with advancing age and a progressive deterioration in structure and function. As a result, vascular remodeling (VR) and medial degeneration (MD) occur. VR and MD are typical entities of sporadic thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA), actually considered a common and serious health risk and a pathology by unclear mechanisms. Increased activity of the coagulation system, inflammation, activation of extracellular matrix remodeling and endothelial dysfunction pathways have been recently evidenced to have a key role in its onset. Functional inequalities for generalized inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions

Various miscellaneous functional inequalities are deduced for the so-called generalized inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions. For instance, functional inequalities for sums, difference and quotient of generalized inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions are given, as well as some Gr\"unbaum inequalities with the aid of the classical Bernoulli inequality. Moreover, by means of certain already derived bounds, bilateral bounding inequalities are obtained for the generalized hypergeometric ${}_3F_2$ Clausen function.
Equal access to the top? Measuring selection into finnish academia

In this article, we draw a parallel between equality of opportunity in educational transitions and equality of opportunity in academic careers. In both cases, many methodological problems can be ameliorated by the use of longitudinal rather than cross-sectional data. We illustrate this point by using Finnish full-population register data to follow the educational and academic careers of the 1964–1966 birth cohorts from birth to the present day. We show how the Finnish professoriate is highly selected both in terms of parental background and in terms of gender.
