Cracking Activity and Hydrothermal Stability of MCM-41 and Its Comparison with Amorphous Silica-Alumina and a USY Zeolite
1996
It has been found that the cracking activity of MCM-41 for a reaction catalyzed by strong acids site, such asn-heptane cracking, is much lower than that of a USY zeolite, and similar to that of amorphous silica-alumina. The higher activity of USY is due to the presence of stronger Bronsted acid sites in the zeolite. In the case of gas oil cracking, the greater accessibility of the large molecules to acid sites in MCM-41 relative to USY makes the difference in activity between these two catalysts much smaller than for the pure hydrocarbon. In the calcined state MCM-41 is more active and gives more gasoline and less gases and coke than amorphous silica-alumina. However, when the catalysts wer…
Clicked and long spaced galactosyl- and lactosylcalix[4]arenes: New multivalent galectin-3 ligands
2014
Four novel calix[4]arene-based glycoclusters were synthesized by conjugating the saccharide units to the macrocyclic scaffold using the CuAAC reaction and using long and hydrophilic ethylene glycol spacers. Initially, two galactosylcalix[4]arenes were prepared starting from saccharide units and calixarene cores which differ in the relative dispositions of the alkyne and azido groups. Once the most convenient synthetic pathway was selected, two further lactosylcalix[4]arenes were obtained, one in the cone, the other one in the 1,3-alternate structure. Preliminary studies of the interactions of these novel glycocalixarenes with galectin-3 were carried out by using a lectin-functionalized chip…
Recurrence of the oxazole motif in tubulin colchicine site inhibitors with anti-tumor activity
2021
Abstract Because of its wide spectrum of targets and biological activities, the oxazole ring is a valuable heterocyclic scaffold in the design of new therapeutic agents with anticancer, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, antidiabetic and antidepressant properties. The presence of two heteroatoms, oxygen and nitrogen, offers possible interactions (hydrogen, hydrophobic, van der Waals or dipoles bonds) with a broad range of receptors and enzymes. Furthermore, the oxazole core conjugates low cytotoxicity with improved compound solubility and is well suited to structural modifications such as substitution with different groups and condensation to aromatic, heteroaroma…
Pauson–Khand reaction of fluorinated compounds
2020
The Pauson–Khand reaction (PKR) is one of the key methods for the construction of cyclopentenone derivatives, which can in turn undergo diverse chemical transformations to yield more complex biologically active molecules. Despite the increasing availability of fluorinated building blocks and methodologies to incorporate fluorine in compounds with biological interest, there have been few significant advances focused on the fluoro-Pauson–Khand reaction, both in the inter- and intramolecular versions. Furthermore, the use of vinyl fluorides as olefinic counterparts had been completely overlooked. In this review, we collect the advances both on the stoichiometric and catalytic intermolecular an…
Screening of ligands for the Ullmann synthesis of electron-rich diaryl ethers
2012
In the search for new ligands for the Ullmann diaryl ether synthesis, permitting the coupling of electron-rich aryl bromides at relatively low temperatures, 56 structurally diverse multidentate ligands were screened in a model system that uses copper iodide in acetonitrile with potassium phosphate as the base. The ligands differed largely in their performance, but no privileged structural class could be identified.
Isomerization of 9c11t/10t12c CLA in Triacylglycerols
2010
Published version of an article in the journal: Lipids . The original publication is available at Spingerlink. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11745-010-3452-x Isomers of conjugated linoleic acid from 7t9c through 12t14t can be induced by thermal treatment of triacylglycerol samples of 9c11t or 10t12c fatty acids in glass tubes. The formation of conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs) has been observed during thermal induction of the above-mentioned triacylglycerols at 250, 280 and 320A degrees C. The concentrations of isomers formed in the mixture varied depending on the temperature and duration of the heating experiments. The objective of this study was to find a suitable thermal induction temperatur…
Spin state switching in iron coordination compounds
2013
The article deals with coordination compounds of iron(II) that may exhibit thermally induced spin transition, known as spin crossover, depending on the nature of the coordinating ligand sphere. Spin transition in such compounds also occurs under pressure and irradiation with light. The spin states involved have different magnetic and optical properties suitable for their detection and characterization. Spin crossover compounds, though known for more than eight decades, have become most attractive in recent years and are extensively studied by chemists and physicists. The switching properties make such materials potential candidates for practical applications in thermal and pressure sensors …
Synthesis of glycosylated β3-homo-threonine conjugates for mucin-like glycopeptide antigen analogues
2010
Glycopeptides from the mucin family decorated with tumour-associated carbohydrate antigens (TACA) have proven to be important target structures for the development of molecularly defined anti-cancer vaccines. The strategic incorporation of β-amino acid building blocks into such mucin-type sequences offers the potential to create pseudo-glycopeptide antigens with improved bioavailability for tumour immunotherapy. Towards this end, TN and TF antigen conjugates O-glycosidically linked to Fmoc-β3-homo-threonine were prepared in good yield via Arndt–Eistert homologation of the corresponding glycosyl α-amino acid derivative. By incorporation of TN-Fmoc-β3hThr conjugate into the 20 amino acid tand…

Molecular Mobility in Oriented and Unoriented Membranes Based on Poly[2-(Aziridin-1-yl)ethanol]
2021
Unoriented and oriented membranes based on dendronized polymers and copolymers obtained by chemical modification of poly[2-(aziridin-1-yl) ethanol] (PAZE) with the dendron 3,4,5-tris[4-(n-dodecan-1-yloxy)benzyloxy]benzoate were considered. DSC, XRD, CP-MAS NMR and DETA, contribute to characterize the tendency to crystallize, the molecular mobility of the benzyloxy substituent, the dendritic liquid crystalline group and the clearing transition. The orientation of the mesogenic chain somewhat hindered this molecular motion, especially in the full substituted PAZE. The fragility, free volume and thermal expansion coefficients of these membranes near the glass transition are related to the orie…
