A differential equation approach to implicit sweeping processes

International audience; In this paper, we study an implicit version of the sweeping process. Based on methods of convex analysis, we prove the equivalence of the implicit sweeping process with a differential equation, which enables us to show the existence and uniqueness of the solution to the implicit sweeping process in a very general framework. Moreover, this equivalence allows us to give a characterization of nonsmooth Lyapunov pairs and invariance for implicit sweeping processes. The results of the paper are illustrated with two applications to quasistatic evolution variational inequalities and electrical circuits.

New analysis of ηπ tensor resonances measured at the COMPASS experiment

We present a new amplitude analysis of the $\eta\pi$ $D$-wave in $\pi^- p\to \eta\pi^- p$ measured by COMPASS. Employing an analytical model based on the principles of the relativistic $S$-matrix, we find two resonances that can be identified with the $a_2(1320)$ and the excited $a_2^\prime(1700)$, and perform a comprehensive analysis of their pole positions. For the mass and width of the $a_2$ we find $M=(1307 \pm 1 \pm 6)$~MeV and $\Gamma=(112 \pm 1 \pm 8)$~MeV, and for the excited state $a_2^\prime$ we obtain $M=(1720 \pm 10 \pm 60)$~MeV and $\Gamma=(280\pm 10 \pm 70)$~MeV, respectively.

Down-regulation of human CYP3A4 by the inflammatory signal interleukin-6: molecular mechanism and transcription factors involved.

The hepatic drug-metabolizing cytochrome P-450 (CYP) enzymes are down-regulated during inflammation. In vitro studies with hepatocytes have shown that the cytokines released during inflammatory responses are largely responsible for this CYP repression. However, the signaling pathways and the cytokine-activated factors involved remain to be properly identified. Our research has focused on the negative regulation of CYP3A4 (the major drug-metabolizing human CYP) by interleukin 6 (IL-6) (the principal regulator of the hepatic acute-phase response). Effect of oxidative stress on UDP-glucuronosyltransferases in rat astrocytes.

UGT1A6 and UGT1A7 expression and enzymatic activities toward the 1-naphthol were analyzed in rat cultured astrocytes following the exposure for 48 h to redox-cycling xenobiotic compounds such as quinones and bipyridinium ions. Objective Leptin is a key hormone in the control of appetite and body weight. Predominantly produced by white adipose tissue, it acts on the brain to inhibit homeostatic feeding and food reward.
