The taint of torture and the brazilian legal system

In Brazil, the practice of torture intertwines deeply with its own history. The literature on the subject has had a greater intensification on its registers during the Dictatorial Regime (1964 to 1985). In spite of the Brazilian Constitution of 1988, Brazil only makes efforts to investigate the crimes of torture of this period to comply with the provisions of the United Nations in 2011. Introduction: Population-based knowledge of the characteristics of wake-up stroke and unknown-onset stroke is limited. We compared occurrence and characteristics of ischaemic and haemorrhagic wake-up stroke, unknown-onset stroke and known-onset stroke in a nationwide register-based study. Patients and methods: We included patients registered in the Norwegian Stroke Register from 2012 through 2019. Age, sex, risk factors, clinical characteristics, acute stroke treatment and discharge destination were compared according to stroke type and time of onset. Jerónimo Quijano fue un arquitecto español que destacó durante la etapa del Renacimiento Pleno en España en el tercio central del siglo XVI. Los edificios seleccionados principalmente son: iglesia de Santiago de Orihuela –Alicante– e iglesia de Santa María del Salvador de Chinchilla –Albacete–. En ambos se construyó una nueva cabecera renacentista e integrada en una nave gótica preexistente y en el caso de haber sido “acabadas” íntegramente con el criterio del maestro serían sin duda ejemplos claves del Renacimiento español. Severity of Covid-19 Clinical Outcomes and Mortality in Multiple Myeloma Patients over Year 1 of the Pandemic

Abstract Introduction In the first weeks of the Covid-19 pandemic when healthcare systems in many areas were overstretched, we documented that hospital mortality in multiple myeloma (MM) patients infected by Sars-Cov-2 was 50% higher than in age matched Covid-19 patients without cancer. In the following months, the pressure on healthcare systems in Spain continued although it did not reach the extreme levels of the first weeks of the pandemic. In this study, we proposed to determine if the severity of Covid-19 outcomes in MM patients has changed over the first year of the pandemic.
