Controlling the Formation of Sodium/Black Phosphorus IntercalationCompounds Towards High Sodium Content

2021

The solid-state synthesis of pure sodium-black phosphorus intercalation compounds (Na-BPICs) has been optimized in bulk for two stoichiometric ratios. Specifically, in-situ X-Ray diffraction (XRD) allowed the precise identification of the optimal temperature range for the formation of Na-BPICs: 94°C–96°C. Moreover, as the undesired formation of Na3P takes place at this very same range, we succeeded in introducing a new synthetic route based on a fast-thermal ball milling implementation that results in the bulk production of BPIC without Na3P in 9 out of 10 cases. Finally, by combining XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and DFT calculations we developed a new structural model for Na-based BPICs showin…

Performance of a thermoelectric module based on n-type (La0.12Sr0.88)0.95TiO3-δ and p-type Ca3Co4-xO9+δ

2020

Here, we present the performance of a thermoelectric (TE) module consisting of n-type (La0.12Sr0.88)0.95TiO3 and p-type Ca3Co4-xO9+δ materials. The main challenge in this investigation was operation of TE module in different atmosphere conditions, since n-type has its optimum TE-performance at reducing, while p-type at oxidizing conditions. The TE module was exposed to two different atmospheres and demonstrated higher stability in N2 atmosphere than in air. The maximum electrical power output decreased after 40 h when the hot side was exposed to N2 at 600 °C, while only 1 h at 400 °C in ambient air was enough to oxidize (La0.12Sr0.88)0.95TiO3 followed by a reduced electrical power output. T…

The Significance of Ionic Bonding in Sulfur Dioxide: Bond Orders from X-ray Diffraction Data

2012

A novel refinement technique for X‐ray diffraction data has been employed to derive S-O bond orders in sulfur dioxide experimentally. The results show that ionic S-O bonding dominates over hypervalency.

A Next‐Generation Air‐Stable Palladium(I) Dimer Enables Olefin Migration and Selective C−C Coupling in Air

2020

Abstract We report a new air‐stable PdI dimer, [Pd(μ‐I)(PCy2 tBu)]2, which triggers E‐selective olefin migration to enamides and styrene derivatives in the presence of multiple functional groups and with complete tolerance of air. The same dimer also triggers extremely rapid C−C coupling (alkylation and arylation) at room temperature in a modular and triply selective fashion of aromatic C−Br, C−OTf/OFs, and C−Cl bonds in poly(pseudo)halogenated arenes, displaying superior activity over previous PdI dimer generations for substrates that bear substituents ortho to C−OTf.

A polymeric two-dimensional mixed-metal network. Crystal structure and magnetic properties of {[P(Ph)4][MnCr(ox)3]}

1994

Abstract The mixed-metal ferromagnet {[P(Ph) 4 ][MnCr(ox) 3 ]} n , where Ph is phenyl and ox is oxalate, has been prepared and a two-dimensional network structure, extended by Mn(II)-ox-Cr(III) bridges, has been determined from single crystal X-ray data. Crystal data: space group R 3 c , a = b =18.783(3), c =57.283(24) A, α=β=90, γ=120°, Z =24 (C 30 H 20 O 12 PCrMn). The magnetic susceptibility data obey the Curie-Weiss law in the temperature range 260–20 K with a positive Weiss constant of 10.5 K. The temperature dependence of the molar magnetization exhibits a magnetic phase transition at T c =5.9 K. The structure is discussed in relation to the strategy for preparing molecular based ferr…

Coupled fixed point, F-invariant set and fixed point of N-order

2010

‎In this paper‎, ‎we establish some new coupled fixed point theorems in complete metric spaces‎, ‎using a new concept of $F$-invariant set‎. ‎We introduce the notion of fixed point of $N$-order as natural extension of that of coupled fixed point‎. ‎As applications‎, ‎we discuss and adapt the presented results to the setting of partially ordered cone metric spaces‎. ‎The presented results extend and complement some known existence results from the literature‎.

A Structural Theorem for Metric Space Valued Mappings of Φ-bounded Variation

2009

In this paper we introduce the notion of $\Phi$-bounded variation for metric space valued mappings defined on a subset of the real line. Such a notion generalizes the one for real functions introduced by M. Schramm, and many previous generalized variations. We prove a structural theorem for mappings of $\Phi$-bounded variation. As an application we show that each mapping of $\Phi$-bounded variation defined on a subset of $\mathbb{R}$ possesses a $\Phi$-variation preserving extension to the whole real line.

Comparing weak versions of separability

2012

Our aim is to investigate spaces with sigma-discrete and meager dense sets, as well as selective versions of these properties. We construct numerous examples to point out the differences between these classes while answering questions of Tkachuk [30], Hutchinson [17] and the authors of [8].
